THE RED LION, Situated over looking the harbour, a traditional pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Serving good quality food daily 12-9pm, our menu is popular with the local trade, and has an exceptional reputation for a good steak! The Red Lion has many offerings such as traditional ales, live music, cosy log fire, pool table, dart board, gaming machines, superb harbour views, warm & friendly atmosphere.

Excellent, very busy place but food arrived quickly which is what you want after a busy day! Everybody very friendly, very recommended thank you!

Despite booking a table, one was not reserved for us and staff had to move another couple drinking at a table to accommodate us. We arrived early so had a drink before heading to what looked like the dining area of the pub to ask for our table. Our name had been crossed off the list but it seems they were expecting us. We thought we’d be sat in the dining area. Instead we were escorted back to the very table we had beer drinking at and where most people around us were drinking and not eating. Was told by staff that I had to order at the bar. When I did I was told my choice was off the menu and that there was a wait of 1 hour for food. The chicken pie and steak came about 50 minutes after ordering and it was pleasantly good. The staff were very pleasant also and worked hard. The moral in the story is this is not a gastro pub so only go there if you’re a drinker who wants a bit of food and you’re prepared to wait for it. The pub needs to decide if it wants to be a drinking pub or a restaurant; it struggles to do both

Been coming back to red Lion for years and each time the food is a disappointment. The staff are great, but unfortunately they need to invest in better chefs. The pub is great, but sadly we won't be coming back to eat here.

Lovely friendly place where we felt immediately welcome. Drinks and food orders taken promptly and delivered timely. Enjoyed both very much and the atmosphere was vibrant with background music and plenty going on without being crowded.

Nice large pub, live band on the Friday evening. Dogs allowed although in live music nights are asked to leave by 9.30. Food good, fast helpful service. Will visit again when in Newquay

We have been here a few times whilst on holiday. This time was the best we had booked so was sat in a lovely spot with a window view out across the harbour. Staff very bubbly and helpful, I just wanted some wholesome comfort food as we had over indulge on fish and chips all week. I chose terrine to start it was nice , then beef pie and mash it came with vegetables and a jug of gravy. Huge puff crust , it was delicious. I had a pudding from the mini pudd section also very nice. Overall lovely experience was had , we will definately revisit.
