We are at our heart a pub. This is a place where you can stop for a while, eat delicious food and drink in the atmosphere.

Set in the beautiful village of Grantchester, our picture perfect, thatch roofed pub is a 2 minute walk from The Grantchester Meadows and a lovely 40 minute stroll along The Cam from Cambridge.

I think under new management, as there have been some changes since lasted visited (a while ago, admittedly!) Menu has improved too. I had the sea bass, I thought it sounded light & easy to eat on a warm evening. Unfortunately it had a lot of oil/butter in all of it, so was quite heavy. Probably be nicer with a “cleaner” taste without all the extra fat. Hubby enjoyed F&C, not too big as in other places. Staff still friendly & efficient, after a busy day for them. Wine choices good. Generally a great experience. Thank you

The nicest staff you’d ever wish for, totally committed to their job in giving the best and smiling service throughout the day, the Sunday lunch was great value and cooked as we asked for, basically a sunny and 100% perfect day in wonderful surroundings. Thanks JohnO and friends

The inside atmosphere is very calm and aesthetic. Service was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately they got one of our dishes wrong - but then very generously wouldn't charge when it was placed. The Cotes du Rhone was also not good but as I'm no expert I was happy to pay for a replacement but they wouldn't have it - which was also generous. Mixed reactions to the food at our table. Maybe need to aim for a notch up. But perfectly fine for a pub evening.

Whilst the food was ok, the tables were pretty sticky and not great to sit at. Not much space between seats either. General feeling of grubbiness plus drains were being cleared whilst we were there. Not a pretty sight!!

A very efficient service; we dealt with 3 waitresses and 1 waiter who were extremely helpful and informative about drinks and the menu. Our table was half exposed to the sun so the staff relocated a parasol for our comfort. The food was very good and we will definitely bring our further visiting guests here. The children’s park was ideal too. Thanks for having us and we look forward to visiting again.

Decent food at an ok price but bit “computer says no” in attitude. Am a regular here and it’s a great location and atmosphere and good for families. On this occasion service was slow as very haphazard. I ordered fish and chips and hate mushy peas so just wanted a few leaves instead but the answer was “no” despite being best part of £20, could be more accommodating with simple requests at their premium (ish) price point and friendly family offering…

Table not ready on arrival. Had to remind hosts after 25 minutes. Took us to a table set for 6 even though we were 8. Man said - I can squeeze up to 9 on here! Didn’t bring extra cutlery or napkins. Waiter spilt wine on table whilst pouring it and just acted as if nothing had happened. Food good and waitress was polite and doing her best but really disorganised and unprofessional hosts. Have been before and had much better experience. Sad to see it go down hill.

Kids meal of grilled chicken, chips and peas was average. Grilled chicken was a very dry piece of chicken on the bone which was difficult to extricate and eat. Hot smoked salmon dish was decent. Adult burger had gristle.

First time here ,to be honest food was average but way over priced ,wine again well above the cost for an average bottle, lovely setting and then pressured to fill in a satisfaction on a tablet brought to the table ,not a place I would recommend to friends.
