Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu. The bar offerings of creative craft cocktails, local draft beer, and old world style wines complete the experience. Private events range from corporate dinners to weddings.

Food was overpriced and lacked flavor. I would only suggest this place for cocktails and maybe an app. Great views/ ambiance, however.

We're repeat customers here. The food is consistently excellent and the servers are very pleasant (I took off one star for service this time because they seemed to be training staff and the service was a little off). Beautiful view of the Hudson. Not cheap, but I think the pricing is fair for the quality of the food.

The restaurant is beautiful with a great view of the Hudson River. The service was great. Our waitress was lovely and accommodating. That's it. The Tuna Nicoise salad was terrible. The tuna didn't taste fresh and the salad was so small I was hungry afterwards. The price of $40.00 was ridiculous. I should have said something but my friend and I were so busy talking I decided not too. I'll never go back.

Just a beautiful restaurant on the river in Irvington, NY. Love this place. Great location, wonderful food, very nice service. Prices are a tad high, but I don't mind paying them all things considered. Highly recommended. Thank you! Barney G

We have made Red Hat a summer tradition! We love the Red Hat but we love Betty even more. She makes the Red Hat extra special. She is just so attentive, kind, professional and great. We plan to come back in August.

The crab cakes were fantastic. The hanger steak was tough. Something chocolate with raspberry.( there was no raspberry whatsoever).I’ve had much better for the prices!

I’ve done the redhead several times over the years. I haven’t been there in over the last 3 to 4 years and the food has completely changed. I did not enjoy my meal.

A terrific spot for date night! Enjoy a cocktail by the river, and then relax and unwind with the best food and ambiance. Also, a big thank you to the owner for being so hospitable and gracious with his time. We will be back again soon!
