Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu. The bar offerings of creative craft cocktails, local draft beer, and old world style wines complete the experience. Private events range from corporate dinners to weddings.

If only the food could compare to the views from the outside patio! The food is mediocre at best, and quite pricey, such as an outrageous $7 for a simple iced tea.

Attentive service; great atmosphere; Excellent food. We ate outside on a gorgeous evening looking at the river. We were allowed to linger for hours as we talked throughout the night. Highly recommend!

This restaurant has good food and a lovely view of the hudson. We had a nice lunch and took a walk after. Lovely experience

Great meal, service and location. Lobster roll was fantastic, as well as the chicken Milanese. Perfect spot.

Perfect night to end a lovely week with my son, his wife and my beautiful granddaughter. Service, food, ambiance was superb and never fails. Love being here as did they … thank you!

We had an outstanding dinner on Sunday evening, outdoor table with perfect weather and beautiful sunset. The owner Giusy (spelling?) was super attentive and receptive to my food sensitivities. The food was fresh and delicious and the service terrific. All round I can highly recommend Red Hat on the River!

Got an outside table that was initially sun laden but ended up in a shady spot. Prosciutto and melon were a great appetizer. The scallops were done to perfection. My wife’s orecchiette dish was tasty. Very good margaritas. Attentive service. A relaxing meal.
