Red Dog Saloon is an Austin, TX Barbecue restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.
Barbecue grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smoldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavor, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

Servers were very polite and attentive. All the food was cold, brisket was extremely fatty, mozzarella sicks were solid. Also found someone's hair in my food. Waitress was very polite and apologetic. Only good thing I can say regarding this place is the staff are very good. Food, atmosphere and the place as a whole is very disappointing. Not worth the prices they charge.

Only table available was awkwardly in the way of everyone and close to the door, not the anniversary date we imagined, the juicy Lucy was far from the name given, dry and tasted of only mustard. I got the impression it came from prepackage, if it didn’t then they need educating on how to slow cook brisket, the only thing I enjoyed were the onion rings. It was very chaotic and noisy, we were so disappointed as we were looking forward to an American bbq experience. Spoilt our evening tbh. Broke our hearts parting with £70

Went for our date night. We had a redletter days voucher. Sat down at 6pm, waitress required my name, telephone number and email to activate the voucher. Waited about 10 mins for her to come back and said she needed the voucher number too. Went away again and just never returned... we waited till 1835 before another waitress asked us if we were alright and wanted to order. Turned out that first waitress finished her shift at 1830 and just left!!! We waited nearly 40 mins to order our food! I really don't understand why a waitress would do that. We had to order the sharing platter instead of a appetiser and main because we were running out of time as we had the mayflower theater tickets and by the time food came out at 1915 we had literally 20 mins to eat and go. We had to leave the food as we ran out of time. On the upside, the margarita was to die for, the food was lovely and the 2 waitresses who did wait on us after the first useless one were lovely. Would I go back? Maybe, I'm not too sure yet. I feel like this place probably needs a second chance, But I probably wouldn't recommend until I have a better experience.

The food was amazing as always, however unfortunately, our experience was tainted by the lack of service we received during the entire time we were there. There did not seem to be a manager on site, and the staff were unaware of the area they were in which meant we had to leave our table to gain attention of staff. We also got the unlimited wing deal and were left waiting for half an hour in between each portion, which massively extended the time we had to spend at the restaurant. Service was slow in general and it became a game of how long it would take to give us the bill - this was close to a 20 minute wait even though we asked when they were clearing the table! The restaurant was half empty so you could not even say they were too busy. We also often saw staff chatting behind the bar even though we had ordered more drinks, and we had to go up to the bar to remind them that we had not received our drinks yet. It was a shame as other than the service, the meal was delicious. It will be a while before we return as the service let us down.

When ordering waiter said are we okay with our burgers being ‘slightly pink’ we both said this was fine and when I received my burger this was completely rare and red all throughout which put me off. Sides were nice however, from this experience it has put me off going back I should have said this at the time but only thinking about it now it has been and gone. Burger was super greasy and sloppy. As well as this, the deal stayed on the website was not available in store which was a massive let down!

Visited as apart of a Southampton food exploration project…this had all the potential to be amazing but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be 1. Extremely poor service, we were often just forgotten about 2. Took 45 mins for drinks to come followed by starters. Starters went cold as we had no cutlery and eventually had to chase down a member of staff twice 3. Took ages for our empty plates to be cleared 4. Mains came out in parts with long gaps so food wasn’t together which meant some were eating and some weren’t. 5. Ask three times for the dips in the end just gave up 6. Asked for another round of drinks which never showed up 7. Staff didn’t know table numbers and seemed completely confused 8. No clear sign of management 9. All tables around ask were saying the same thing, shocking service. 10. Had to audacity to add service charge to the bill which was swiftly removed The food was good, expensive but it tasted great. However the rest of the experience ruined the experience unfortunately.

Upon arrival we were greeted by staff member and we were even given option to choose were to sit even in nearly fully booked place. Service itself was great and lot of options to choose from menu and also option to change the items from original dish.

Have been a few times this time was the worst quality of food seems to have dropped significantly we had a platter and everything just tasted greasy the only stand put good part was the brisket it was lovely and the got link wasn't bad but the rest was just greasy and not nice at all

The food was excellent but very expensive, with some of the larger burgers costing £30+ without fries. This is Southampton not Mayfair! The drinks on the other hand were reasonable for a restaurant.

Food was lovely, Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was brought out very quickly. Restaurant was clean. The noice was a little loud but only because England were playing Switzerland. This wasn’t an issue for us as everybody was having a great time and the atmosphere was brilliant! We were even offered a free shot when England scored!
