We're happy to serve the Downtown Navasota Railroad District. Red Board Tavern & Table is led by Executive Chef Craig Schmidt, a Northern Californian who went on to acquire a Culinary Arts Degree from San Joaquin Delta College. Then, Chef Craig added additional degrees in Baking and Pastry at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Chef's many years of expertise has aided in his selection of food pairings for our guests to enjoy.

Cocktail s and food were okay. We decided not to be too critical of each because taste varies. We were fine to chalk it up to just not our thing until... Desert was taking quite a long while. We weren't that excited about anything on the menu anyway so asked to just cancel the cobbler that isn't made to prefer- just scoop hit the microwave for 30 seconds and serve. When our waitress went back to counter she made the comment put it in to go "they're mad at me." First, we are both hard of hearing so I'm sure others heard the comment. Second, we were very polite throughout dinner (and not in a passive aggressive manner). Finally, we weren't rude when asking for the check. Frankly, I'm surprised at how rude she was and even then she received a tip she didn't deserve after her unprofessional behavior. We tried to find an email directly to the restaurant so voice our frustration directly. Since we didn't find one , I'm posting here. Our bill was ~$200 which included tip so needless to say, we won't be returning.

Charming restaurant in charming area of Navasota. Food and drinks were perfection. Bartender really "knew his stuff." Loved, loved, loved the deviled egg trio appetizer. Also loved, loved, loved the gazpacho. Can't wait to go back and try some other tempting items on the menu.

We took friends for their first visit. Although I was disappointed that the divine Mushroom Soup wasn't available, the Gazpacho was a delicious alternative! We were seated right next to the piano, & could easily have a conversation. As we left, the pianist even asked us if he was too loud! Our server was attentive but not obtrusive, & our steaks were delicious. We hope to return soon!

The cabernet braised beef sub had a nice flavor, but seemed small upon arriving and should have included the cup of seasoned pickles which are very good, and would have filled the plate better. In comparison, the Texas brisket Rueben which was large and included the special pickles and a side, filled the plate beautifully and also had a nice flavor. The side steak fries were a bit on the burned side. Edible but not impressive. Had to ask for ketchup, not automatic offered. There were about 20-22 customers total during our visit and the plates took 30 minutes from ordering to get to us. They do not have booths. And be aware the chairs are wood, no cushioning: GLAD we brought our cushions! Staff was friendly. Will we return? Probably. But, go out of our way? Probably not.

Second time dining here. Food was good both times but the service has been sub-par each time. Today, we were told they were out of tater tots and wings when trying to order both. Four of us arrived after 2 others in our party and we were not asked if we wanted anything other than water to drink. We asked for an Arnold Palmer-we were told no lemonade but there was lemon juice at the bar. Not offered dessert menu so we had to ask for one. Ordered 2 brownies-server asked if we wanted something else in case they were out of brownies. Menu said it comes with ice cream, server said they were out of ice cream. Server then tried to tell us it didn’t come with ice cream to begin with. Disappointing experience and probably won’t be back for third time.

Delicious food, great service! Entire staff from hostess table on was friendly and cared deeply about making the visit exceptional. Our waitress, Angela was very knowledgeable and helped us decide between multiple appetizing entrees. Will definitely be returning to try the entrees (and dessert) we didn’t get to this time around!

Excellent food at a reasonable price point. Everything was excellent. It’s not often we clean our plates, but both Les and I cleaned up. The duck was fantastic, the red fish was quite tasty. Both sides we got were excellent. Beverages were spot on. We will be back.
