Very disappointed in our latest experience at Rare. Chose them to celebrate our anniversary and wish we hadn’t. Have been coming to Rare for 10+ years and this latest visit will likely be our last. Very poor service from our waiter. Food orders were mixed up, drinks that were ordered were never brought out and our server failed to check on us even one time after our food was brought out. We eventually had to flag down someone else to bring out our check and the waiter didn’t come back to our table until we had already gotten the check and complained to the manager. The manager also said they would comp us a round of drinks but the final bill only removed one drink and 50% off of another. Pretty sad attempt to make things right for long time customers.

Always a great delicious evening! We love sitting at the bar. Everyone is friendly and attentive. We are there a few times a month.

Steak was wonderful, great flavor, well cooked. Sides were very lackluster. Service was great as well.

Started with a martini, which the bartender made perfectly. I had clams oraganata which were very good, little heavy on the breading but that’s the preparation right? The NY strip was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The creamed spinach was a little bland and had too much liquid, for my taste. James was very informative about the cuts of meat and attentive throughout the meal. Overall my experience was excellent!

Food was excellent!!!! My friend and I split the porterhouse steak for two, which was perfectly a medium rare, nice crust served with two types of gravy-- it was stupendously delicious. The mashed potato was the perfect accompanant. Service was efficient. The eggplant parmigiana was described as sweet on the menu and did not disappoint. Frito calamari with shrimp was exactly the way we love it-lightly battered served with sweet and spicey marinara! I It was our first time there and we were pleasantly surprised. We contemplated returning except the noise level made it difficult to hear one another. Maybe next time sitting in the front of the house would be acceptable. PS We ended up taking home leftovers. Serving portions are big!!

When you’re going to spend 200+ on a dinner, you expect the vibes, service, and food to be good. However, the vibes walking into the place are…confusing to say the least. The dining room is white table cloth, fine dining, with a direct view of the bar playing pop music and sports on the flatscreens. The servers were less than professional, calling my boyfriend “bud” the whole time. We ordered the “cowboy cut” steak for over $60 and couldn’t get past how chewy it was. The lobster tail was cooked well but ultimately flavorless. This place simply missed the mark and provided only weird vibes for what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my boyfriend.
