Travis and Ryan Croxton debut their spinoff from the highly acclaimed Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Union Market in Washington, DC. They’ve even brought their DC Chef, Kevin Kelly, to man the kitchen at this outpost. This location in the historic Cigar Factory Building on East Bay Street, allows room for Chef Kelly to showcase more of his cuisine to a larger audience, including an incredibly unique 40 seat raw bar. Oysters grown by the Croxton’s own Rappahannock Oyster Company are accentuated, but Kelly’s signature dishes like lambs’n’clams, crabcakes, shrimp & grits and the best po’ boy you’ll ever eat are enough reasons in their own right for constant visits. Coupled with a great cocktail program and focus on local ingredients, ROB is a great place for any occasion.

They were a bit disorganized on our arrival with exhaustion showing for most of the staff. Our server Chase was great. Good time had by all.

We sat outside so it was more quiet. The food was amazing, service fantastic, and over all a great time.

Food was delicious but fairly pricy. We ordered bread at a cost of $7 a serving and shrimp for appetizers. We were a party of 6 so we did order multiple of each of the appetizers including entrees and cocktails. I ordered the grouper ($44) which was the grilled fish. The dish was delicious but the portion of grouper was small. I was disappointed since the dish was $44. Bread should be complimentary at these prices. Service could have a bit better but the restaurant had a fun atmosphere and boisterous.

The raw seafood was of fresh and high quality!! Drove 2 hours just to eat here and it didn't disappoint! 10/10 would recommend.

Outstanding oysters without the salinity of low country oysters. Great bar and cocktail specials. Would have like to have tried several of the fish entrees but we had dinner reservations elsewhere. I will definitely be back when in Charleston.

It was a busy night and they seemed understaffed. Things were clearly hectic and the service suffered. I hope this was an off-night and this isn't always how it is. Took a long time to get drinks in, same with food. Food runners weren't sure where to drop things at the bar, despite all bar seats being numbered. We ordered small plates and entrees at the same time, largely because the bartenders at the bar seats were very busy, but assumed these things would be cadenced out. The entree came before the small plates. For better or worse, the wrong entree was rung in so it worked out in our favor that it happened that way, because we could enjoy the smalls first. Just a bit of a mess overall, but again, hoping it was just an off night.

In general, the meal was good. The grouper entrée was excellent as was the soup. The salad was the only thing that was disappointing. It was a very good size salad, but with these huge pieces of lettuce that we just couldn’t eat, even after trying to cut them into much smaller pieces. The dressing was very acidic so we just gave up on the salad.

I’m an expert on Shrimp and Grits and Rappahannocks has the best EVER;)! The mussels were perfect, the bread alone would bring me back to eat here again, the crab cake is 100% crab(no filler) and worth every penny! Our server Jancy was knowledgeable, polite and courteous as well as being Johnny on the spot! Highly recommended;)
