Rappahannock Oyster Bar (Wharf) occupies the restored historic oyster shed (circa 1912) building at the Municipal Fish Market (the oldest fish market in the United States). The restaurant serves a line up of small plate offerings, wines, craft beers, unique cocktails, and of course, our very own celebrated shellfish.

While the food was tasty, it was underwhelming for the price point. The bun on the sandwich was a cheap grocery store bun. The service was not great. There apparently was a mixup with our server, we got served by multiple people which led to miscommunications, delays, and a lack of continuity. I mentioned something to a manager and she didn't seem to care. Will not go back.

Oysters were very good, caesar salad with shrimp was tasty, burger was pretty good. Great atmosphere on the water. A bit expensive for what you get, but worth a visit.

The restaurant is at a very nice location looking out onto the Pier. Great oysters and Maryland crab cakes. The scallops and pork belly dish is very tasty. I took one star off the rating because they ran out of coffee on a Sunday morning and wouldn’t allow us to bring in coffee from another store. How could they run a big restaurant like this and run out of coffee?

We waited nearly 15 minutes for someone to wait on us and the only reason she came is because I asked the hostess if we had a server. She took our drink and food order, and delivered the wrong wine, I am not a wine snob by any means, but there is a big difference between white and red. She never delivered the appetizer. The food was fantastic. Both my daughter and I have worked in the food service industry, we understand being overwhelmed and are very patient, but there is no excuse for not greeting a customer or apologizing if you get something wrong. Very BAD customer service, but if you can get around that, the food was great and worth the value.

Oysters and fries were good, rest of the food was mediocre. Service was very slow, 15 minutes before our server even brought waters.

Sitting on the Potomac on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Service was excellent and the oyster were phenomenal. Adding the grilled octopus was a home run! Truly enjoyed ourselves.

Stopped in for a beer and had some oysters and ceviche. Both were outstanding. I sat at the bar. Bartenders Josh and Britt were super friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back for sure.

Raw oysters were delicious. The market catch with crab cake was excellent and large enough for two to share. We also ordered peach creme brulee, which was fresh and delicious. Our server, Patrick, was thorough in describing the menu and attentive to our every need.
