We are excited to welcome you to Rania, DC's hottest destination for modern Indian food. Tom Sietsema has called our food "some of the most inspired Indian cooking in DC." At Rania, we offer homage to the time-honored traditions, rich flavors, and spices of India in an intimate, luxurious setting. We look forward to sharing our vision with you!

Presenting sophisticated, highly acclaimed 4-course prix-fixe menu, with an upcoming debut of our chef's tasting menu.

Policies:
-Dress Code: Smart Business Casual. No shorts, athletic wear, or baseball caps are allowed.
-Children under 10 are not allowed in the main dining areas.
-Reservations are available for parties of up to 6 people.
- A non-refundable deposit of $30 per person is required for parties larger than 5.
-A 20% gratuity will be added to all parties 5 or more.

    This was a very special experience with outstanding tastes and excellent wine pairing. Unreservedly I would recommend the four course menu with the fantastic attention to the selection of wines to accompany every course choice. Tremendous service and incredible work from the ninja like approach to keeping the table uncluttered and the focus on the food and drink.

    Rania DC: A New Gold Standard in Fine Indian Dining” We’ve dined at some of DC’s finest Indian-inspired restaurants, including Rasika, but Rania has truly set a new standard. Celebrating our wedding anniversary here was an extraordinary experience filled with elegance, remarkable flavors, and impeccable service that exceeded every expectation, making Rania our new favorite. The evening began with an amuse-bouche that was nothing short of perfection: a Kerala-style achappam topped with chaat masala, tamarind, and caviar. This fusion of flavors was out of this world, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. Our four-course tasting menu began with the Shrimp Koliwadi and Gobi Manchurian. The shrimp, paired with a sweet pepper chutney, was tender and flavorful, while the Gobi Manchurian had a delightful tang with shishito peppers, complemented perfectly by a robust red wine. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through each dish and wine pairing with expertise, adding depth to the experience. He was also attentive to my wife’s tree nut allergy, ensuring a stress-free evening. For the second course, we had the Lamb Cheela and Diver Scallop. The Lamb Cheela, with its rich flavors, was paired with a deep red wine that enhanced its depth, while the Diver Scallop with white asparagus and Mangalorean-style sauce was delicate and beautifully balanced with a crisp white. The main courses were truly showstoppers. The Ghee Poached Salmon Moilee in a coconut broth was buttery and aromatic, paired with a tropical white wine that highlighted the dish’s lush flavors. The Hay-Aged Pork Loin Vindaloo with crispy pork belly and charred leek was equally impressive. Rania surpassed all expectations, from the unique amuse-bouche to the impeccable service and unforgettable flavors. If you’ve enjoyed Rasika, Rania will take you to new heights of Indian-inspired fine dining. This was an anniversary to remember, and Rania has redefined elegance and creativity in DC.

    Overall the food was good, however, given the price for the minute portion sizes of Indian food, it simply was not innovative or worth the exorbitant cost of generally good dishes. There are a multitude of other options worth your appetites if you seek quality food. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, as someone who has lived, cooked and tried the food of South Asia globally, I assure you that merely shaving truffles upon a purported kofta stuffed with a quail egg is incomparable to just quality kofta. Here everyday lentils, rice and potatoes are reduced to minuscule size yet charged outrageously for what outsiders consider exotic and orientalist.
