The food was mediocre at best. The fish sandwich smelled strongly of fish and was unappetizing. We were near the back of the room but the piano was so loud we couldn’t hear each other

This place was so lovely, I felt like I was in another time era. Loved this place and the tea was so much fun! I will definitely be going there again soon!!

I enjoyed the experience. I thought that we would be in a separate room, more intimate. My friend and I were seated before the other two guest arrived and it took about 20 minutes for someone to come over to us, I had to ask for water. Our server was knowledgeable. Our tea was served cold and the menu did not accommodate pescatarian lifestyle, I was offered salad because the only selection was fish salad sandwiches. I would go again in hopes for a better experience.

It would be best to go as a small group of 2-3 as they were severely understaffed. We had a group of five and we were only given one pot of hot water for the five of us so we kept running out, but because they were understaffed we went a long time without water. Which was bad because the tea is the whole point. We were also given the same amount of spreads for five people as the parties of two people, we ran out of the spreads and they did not give anymore, but how can the amount of spreads for two people be the same for five?! We kept asking for more water because of the one pot for five people, and when we asked for more jam the server had a terrible attitude. It is not our fault they were understaffed. Overall we would not do it again.

The Tea in the Raleigh Room experience is definitely worth it. The room was gorgeous and there was a piano player. It felt very fancy. Food was very good.

The Cavalier is beautiful and the atmosphere is very nice. Our server was very good but the food was just average and the tea wasn't hot enough. We asked for it to be hotter and our server brought more water but it still wasn't hot enough. So, we just drank warm tea.

Hotel employees were not friendly. Wait staff was not attentive. Given a small pot of water for 2 and another wait staff member had to replace water. Wait staff was not descriptive of menu. Overfilled tea leaves in strainer and spilled into tea cup. This was told to me at the beginning and to let wait staff know if need to rinse out cup due to over spill of tea leaves. Tea and food was good but level of service received from the valet to other employees is lacking for a hotel that advertises itself as luxurious and iconic.

I regularly take afternoon tea at the Raleigh room & usually love the experience and the service very much. On this most recent visit however we sadly found the service lacking. While i very much appreciated the thoughtfulness of the Raleigh Room Manager in calling me the night before to clarify my dietary request~ our server on Sunday made us feel very rushed, and that we had overstayed our welcome. While my friend and i were enjoying our time together, chatting over our champagne and leisurely partaking of our tea time, our server started to come over again and again about halfway through our tea cake assortment. Not just to ask if we needed additional hot water for our tea, but clearly to give us hints as to the time we took up. Mind you, there was no crowd nor a lack for open tables. Yet she kept coming over, interrupting us every 10-15 minutes to "check" on us. Eventually i said to my friend: "I think her shift may be ending and she must want to ensure she gets a tip or that the transaction is rung in under her number"? Sure enough, a few moments later she came back again and stated that she wanted to make us aware that her shift was ending, and if we were not ready to ring up, another server would take over. It all felt very unpleasant and made us feel burdensome, if not outright unwelcome. This was a new and unexpected experience, never before encountered at the Cavalier. Not at any of the 3 restaurants on the premises. Not at the Raleigh Room where i take Tea very often with my daughter or friends, nor indeed at the Becca or the Hunt Room of which my husband and i are frequent dinner guests. The Cavalier will remain one of my very favorite places to visit, despite the rather unpleasant service on Sunday. Perhaps the server, Kira i believe was her name, is new to her position.
