The good: Ambiance was lovely, of course. Waitstaff was very attentive and very polite. Even when talking amongst themselves, I heard guests referred to as Mr. & Mrs. Jones instead of table 7. There was even a cellist and violinist playing throughout the day.
The not so good: We had a reservation for three adults for Thanksgiving dinner in the Crystal Ballroom. When I made the reservation in October, my credit card was immediately charged $339. When we arrived, we were seated at a tiny table between two doors where everyone had to come and go through to get to where the buffet was located across the hall. We ordered two cocktails and a glass of wine which overpriced, but okay - for a separate fee. Even soft drinks were not included with your meal. The buffet itself was typical Thanksgiving food, but not much of anything else. The plates provided were not dinner plates, but were salad plate sized, meaning you couldn't get your turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans on one plate. You had to make many trips back and forth if you wanted to taste everything. Of course by this time, everything on your dish was cold. We then ordered a bottle of pino grigio. I pointed out to staff that the sliced meats and cheese table was quite depleted, but instead of cleaning up the leftovers, tidying it up, and refilling everything, they brought out a little more cheese that was so dried up it was curling up around the edges and the original mess was left there. The dessert table consisted of about five or six choices, including dried out pumpkin tarts, apple tarts, cake pops, watery vanilla “mousse” and some tiny squares of unimpressive pastries - nothing chocolate. When we got the bill for the wine and cocktails, there was a $20 “service fee” tacked on.
Conclusion: If you’re there for a lovely atmosphere and don't have your hopes up for much of anything else, you’ll be happy. If you expect a delicious, hot meal in addition for your $113 per person, you'll be sorely disappointed.
