Located in the heart of downtown Long Beach, Radish is a celebration of the agricultural spirit of the Gulf Coast and the unlikely connection between a charming coastal town and the humble root vegetable that put it on the map. Nineteenth-century farmers took advantage of the L&N Railroad and the opportunity to ship the fruits of their labor northward. The favored Yankee bar snack of the day was a long scarlet radish dipped in luxurious butter and coarse salt. The good times lasted until Prohibition, when local bars shuttered and demand for the Long Beach Red dried up. Today, Radish, led by Chef William Rester and team, embraces time-honored techniques and traditions to create an ingredient-driven menu that showcases what it means to eat and drink in the South.

    Everything was wonderful. The server was attentive and friendly, and every dish we ordered was great. We got the beets for starters, then the special buffalo chicken salad, and the grilled chicken sandwich. The lavender drink was also very good. We had reservations at 11:30 but they probably weren’t needed until noon when the place filled up. There’s outside seating but it was too hot for that this time.

    Amazing food-small town-big flavors! We went for our anniversary and the owner greeted us with champagne and surprised us with the anniversary year personalized on our dessert plate. Those special touches are what take the dining experience to the next level. We are excited about going again to explore the menu.

    This quaint restaurant was an absolute gem to find. Service was wonderful. Ingredients were fresh. Food and drinks were 5-star in flavor and presentation. The chef checked in as well. A great experience. Wish they were open for brunch!

    Fantastic menu. Great variety, imaginative and wholesome, thoughtfully presented. Likewise the cocktails—clever and cool. Service was excellent and perfectly paced. Only issue among the 5 of us was the fish of the day (snapper) was overcooked, rendering it dry and stringy. Overall it was a lovely evening and a 5-star experience. We’ll be back!
