Sur la High Street, il vous suffira de repérer un hall tout en verre pour comprendre que vous êtes arrivé au Quod restaurant, le véritable sanctuaire du Hold Bank Hotel, avec son bar et sa terrasse spectaculaire. Cet ancien hall de banque à été transformé par le propriétaire Jeremy Mogford, qui en a fait le plus grand et le plus réputé des restaurants d’Oxford. Son décor est élégant et contemporain. L’espace est harmonieusement optimisé et abrite une incroyable collection d’art contemporain, dont les oeuvres de Sandra Blow, de Craigie Aitchinson et de Gary Hume, qui ornent magnifiquement les murs. La terrasse chauffée est exceptionnelle. Vous pourrez y déguster un délicieux dîner à un très bon rapport qualité/prix, mais aussi profiter tranquillement d’un café, ou savourer un des divers cocktails de l’établissement.

Quod and the Old Bank Hotel have a large secure private car park and is accessed via an automated barrier. Priority is given to hotel guests though spaces are readily available throughout the weekdays.
Public transit
Coaches and trains provide regular services to and from destinations across the UK and there is a direct coach service to London every nine minutes. Coach stops are a couple of minutes walk along the High Street and Oxford Train Station is around 20 minutes walk away.

Afternoon Tea in Quod

Take part in the most traditional English pastime of afternoon tea in the heart of Oxford. With its large windows looking onto the famous colleges, Quod is the perfect stopping point during a walk of the city. Enjoy classic egg & cress or ham and mustard sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam and a cup of tea or perhaps a glass of champagne. In the summer months tea can be taken on our recently refurbished Italian garden terrace.

Excellent service and lovely food. There was a good mix on the menu for vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters. Our two dogs were welcomed so we had an enjoyable unrushed Sunday lunch.

A visit to Quod is always a reliable treat. There is always something that attracts me on the menu and together with the excellent service and lively atmosphere I will always return. Definitely getting more expensive though..

On Saturday 21 September 2024, as a semi-regular customer, I had evening dinner at Quod restaurant in High Street, Oxford. I did not like being sat by the receptionist at a small table which was not well lit, near another table by the courtyard windows. So I am happy that my waitress moved me to a corner table with more light, so I could read the menu in comfort. My waitress made a good recommendation for the butternut squash risotto starter which was very good. Although the chicken kiev did not ooze garlic butter, overall, I did enjoy this very good dish with the mashed potato, backed up by good chips. I do not know if chicken kiev at Quod usually does not ooze garlic butter. The sticky toffee pudding was OK but a bit too sweet for me. The only issue I had with the restaurant was lighting at tables. There should be no table with no direct lighting because we need to be able to read the menu with enough lighting. The next morning, I returned to Quod restaurant on Sunday 22 September 2024, too late for the breakfast menu, at 11.05am. But I am very happy that the chef or manager agreed to allow me to have their excellent Eggs Benedict, and tea. Overall, I was very happy with my dinner (and breakfast) at Quod restaurant. Thank you to my good waitress Vanessa for her help with my stay, and her patience with the menu. And I will return to Quod again! Patrick, 24 September 2024.

Starting with service, our waiter seemed inexperienced and also could care less. I ordered the fish cakes, and the fish was raw inside. Found another waitress to help get it fixed and our waiter did turn up. My husbands dish was ok, but not hot. The rice must have been cooked hours ago. The host came over and apologized. We thought about ordering dessert, but it took so long to get the waiter we decided it to. The restaurant and staff seemed more pre-occupied with a large private group. Sad. The restaurant was recommended to us by someone.
