At Quetzal, we celebrate regional Mexican cuisine, inspired by traditional flavours and cooking styles, all cooked over a 28 foot-long open fire that runs the span of the hot line. Traditional moles, sauces and little-known native ingredients are transported to Toronto and infused with the bounty of local Ontario and Canadian produce, for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Quetzal is located at the corner of College & Bathurst, at the edges of four Toronto hotspot neighbourhoods: Little Italy, Kensington Market, Harbord Village, and the Annex.

Le Quetzal s'est vu décerner une étoile MICHELIN pour ses délicieuses grillades au feu de bois et ses plats mexicains moins connus, qui vont au-delà des tacos et des tostadas. Une carte de cocktails créatifs à base de tequila et de mezcal, ainsi qu'un plafond incurvé et accrocheur évoquant un marché mexicain, complètent l'ambiance ultra-cool du restaurant.

Possibly, my favourite restaurant in Toronto and I always get the empanada. Their wine pairings perfect. Never disappointed, and expectations are always exceeded.

Staff was very accommodating when chef’s bar was too hot for us. Really nice vegan options. We had a lovely evening!

We celebrated our anniversary and they even gave us an extra dessert for the celebration. They did their best to accommodate my request for a table but we ended up staying just at the bar. The bar seating gave us a different atmosphere and the service was excellent. Like last time we were given excellent recommendations on the food and drinks, everything from the appetizer dip to the pork, duck, and hanger steak was delicious.

Overall everything was fantastic, the service was attentive and the dishes were tasty, well presented and filling. We were a group of 4 and we ended up ordering a variety of dishes so that we could fully experience the menu. Our favourites were the scallops (we should have gotten 8 instead of the 6…we all wanted more) and the Argentinian Shrimp with bone marrow…but all dishes were great!!! Would go back and would highly recommend.

The food was incredible, but more on that later! Firstly, my Wheelchair Accessibility review: as a manual wheelchair user, the team members at Quetzal truly elevated my experience at their 1-step-up entry door and full-flight-away bathroomed venue. *I knew the bathrooms were downstairs, 100% inaccessible to me before I made the res, and never expected a contingency plan on the staff's part. The wonderful human taking my call weeks before assured me they'd have a portable ramp set for me so the entrance would be accessible (with a bit of extra help with the door), but the bathroom was not at all accessible. "I'll just use the bathroom somewhere else before I arrive! All good." In our initial arrival/chat, a curly-haired team member contacted his buddy, the owner of a fully accessible venue a few doors down. Within ten minutes the owner had arrived and we were escorted there and back before our first course arrived! Their initiative to problem solve for me was genuinely touching, truly beyond what I'd expect or have encountered in many passed situations like this. +A! Onto the tasty stuff! We split an app, entree and got cocktails/bottled beer. 1 •cocktail: "No, Heather. It's Heather's Turn": 8/10. A suggestion from our server based on my fav tastes: Great! Bright green, super yum! Keep 'em coming. 2 •the empanada oaxaqueña: 10/10 recommend! The most succulent shredded lamb with a gorgeous smoky side sauce and pickled radish(?) along with it. Delicious! 3 •the 14oz Ribeye Wagyu: 10/10 AMAZING! Cooked perfectly! It had an almost melty decadence. Best I've had. For a wagyu steak, it's the GOAT lol! (Just meat, no included sides). Paired with... •Mushroom & Shishito: a suggestion that upped the Wagyu's game even more; something I wouldn't think was possible, but damn! Possibly the best meal I've ever had! +ambiance at 9pm on a July Thursday was a teensy bit loud for seamless casual convo, but SUCH a vibe-vibe! I'll def return... Take my money. Just take it!

Very lovely manager, Lewis was very helpful. Beautiful atmosphere, with a wide variety of tequilas, and exquisite house made tortillas.. If in the future I do decide to dine again I think I would opt for the curated menu as to stream line the service. And allow for zero room for any future miscommunications, especially in such a lively and bustling environment. All of the food looked like art on a plate.
