Hidden from the long arm of Prohibition-era law, Kansas City’s speakeasies welcomed revelers seeking good spirits and a spirited good time.An affectionate nod to the city’s glamorous, freewheeling nightlife, P.S. is Hotel Phillips’ contemporary incarnation of the 1930’s speakeasy, artfully crafting cocktails concealed in a long-forgotten basement mail sorting room, accessible only by an secret door. Very loud for a speakeasy. Only 2 servers for the place so service was slow. Got seated at a table on the wall that the chairs were separated with the table between, so it was hard to converse without yelling across the table. Wouldn’t recommend as a speakeasy… mediocre at best. Probably won’t return.

This is a gem of a place, if you like speakeasies. It is dark, moody, and secretive. If there are a lot of people, expect it to be loud. We were next to a large group that were quite loud, once they left, it was very pleasant. Briana was our server, along with another nice lady (didn't get her name). Both were wonderful and very accommodating. We had a handicap person with us and although the lift wasn't working, they did everything they could to help and make your experience enjoyable. Highly recommend as a place to stop for a drink and a cool speakeasy experience.

I was entirely disappointed in PS. I made a reservation for 9pm and arrived on time. The hostess allowed us to select our seats from a very limited set of options, essentially 1 of 3 booths, or small table and chairs near other groups. The drinks were average. The service was terrible. The waitress stopped by the table several times for 2-3 quick seconds and it felt like she checked in on us while continuing to walk past the table. A very loud and rambunctious bridal party arrived and overwhelmed the entire space with their voices and cackling. Literally deafening. The music was a bit too loud considering it should invite conversation. Within a handful of minutes I could barely hear my partner over the music and loud group as we sat right next to eachother. The vibe was terrible, the drinks just ok but overpriced, and the service was so far below par it does not register. We will not return.

It took 30 minutes to get one round of drinks for four people. One of the drinks was wrong and one of them was terrible. The other two were just ok. We were never offered another round.

Old style speak easy. Perfectly done. Small dim and quiet with the exception of the amazing live music being performed. Will visit again next time I’m in KC. Drinks were excellent and honestly not overpriced for the quality and ambiance. Like others have stated, do eat before arriving. No food, but you will not miss it.

Wasn’t a secret door or anything that made it actually feel like an exclusive Speakeasy. It just felt like a bar with funny names for drinks. Disappointed for a Speakeasy experience.
