Come experience an abridged version of Chef Andrew Zimmerman's popular Chef's Menu before enjoying a night at the theater! In collaboration with Chicago's vibrant theater community, we bring you the best way to enjoy Proxi in a shorter format to allow for a quick dinner before a show. The menu features a first course of sharables for the table, followed by a choice entree course, and family style dessert, all highlighting our kitchen team's globe-trotting, award-winning style. Available Monday through Saturday, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Please allow approximately 90 minutes for your pre-theater experience.

Frequented Proxi in the past and have always left feeling like it was a positive experience. This past visit was very lackluster. From the service- which was slow and not up to par with past visits to the food and ambiance. The vibe was off. I was disappointed- maybe they were having an off night. But I won’t go out of my way to go back like I have in the past.

The atmosphere and vibe were excellent. Our server was odd. She only came to the table a couple times as others delivered the food or filled our water. She didn’t come across as professional, but more like a cheerleader with a forced smile, and an inability to read the room or genuinely connect with restaurant guests who were there to enjoy an upscale meal in a classy restaurant. It was odd. And unfortunately, despite the food being good and in initially liking the atmosphere, the interactions didn’t inspire us to stay for another glass of wine or to settle in and enjoy our meal. It was quite awkward and disappointing.

We were not too impressed with Chef’s Choice menu. Next time we’ll order from regular menu. The drinks were great and the restaurant is beautiful!

We are big fans of Proxi. The Chef's Menu is our usual choice, this time giving us a trip through Thailand. The assortment of items in each course were delightful and delicious. Our server, Ivan, remembered us from past visits - even before we arrived. It was a treat to share the evening with him. Ivan was especially knowledgeable - sharing information about each item as well as the wine pairings. It was clear he really enjoys his job - which, in turn, made the experience even more special for us. Thanks to the entire Proxi team for a wonderful evening!

I love the global menu at Proxi and the wine list keeps up nicely. Of everything we ordered - about 6 dishes to share among 4 people - only one did not exceed expectations (grilled prawns… strange flavor combos). Service is professional and friendly and wines are reasonably priced. Loved returning here and I’ll be back!

Terrific dining experience! Flavorful dishes. Try as much as you can and share with your table. You will motivate be disappointed. Service was helpful, friendly and personable. If we lived in Chicago, we would dine here once a week, I am sure!

Kevin was an amazing host! He took such good care of our table and we really enjoyed him. The food was all really great, especially the smoked mushrooms and pork dish. The steak tartare was humorously small but so tasty. Definitely small plates so order a lot of options and share! We had drinks at the bar first and they were quick with service.

We got a chance to try the new fall menu and all the vegetable dishes were outstanding. Chef Zimmerman and his team’s mastery of spice is phenomenal. The dressing on the Tahini salad was something we would eat everyday if it was in a bottle. The Mole sauce with the mushroom Tamale was out of this world good and the paneer Kofta was one of the best Indian dishes we have ever had (and we’ve been to both India and Michelin starred Indian restaurants, as well as many neighborhood ones across Chicago). While we’ve enjoyed Proxi for many years the way the vegetable courses were sequenced is the first time it hit us that the standout quality of the Proxi team is the mastery of “spice” across a such a range of the world’s cuisines in a way that just flows from one dish to the next (as a vegetarian, not sure how that plays in the meat dishes, but I’d highly recommend as a vegetarian). Speaking of sequencing, our waiter was outstanding. We ordered individual dishes off the menu (vs the tasting) as we had tickets for the opera. We let our server know we wanted to be done by 6:30pm and the last course came out at 6:15 and I was signing the bill at 6:28pm! The service was well paced and we truly appreciate being able to get a great meal in more quickly than we normally would without feeling rushed for an evening event. Well done and we’ll definitely be back for a more leisurely dinner to savor the flavors of this menu.

Greeted pleasantly by the host, seated immediately despite having a later reservation. Warm & welcoming and attentive service from the entire staff.Had the house G&T to start. Perfectly refreshing. Shareable plates were just the right size. Started with the mushrooms and octopus and shared the perfectly prepared branzino for our main. Dessert was a Thai tea cheesecake. Will return.
