Come experience an abridged version of Chef Andrew Zimmerman's popular Chef's Menu before enjoying a night at the theater! In collaboration with Chicago's vibrant theater community, we bring you the best way to enjoy Proxi in a shorter format to allow for a quick dinner before a show. The menu features a first course of sharables for the table, followed by a choice entree course, and family style dessert, all highlighting our kitchen team's globe-trotting, award-winning style. Available Thursday through Saturday, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Please allow approximately 90 minutes for your pre-theater experience.

Food was delish! Fried fish and chicken! Lentil dumplings, behl puri chaat. Yum. The menu is more focused on Indian flavors than I recall from prior visits. Very good!! Smooth service. Loved sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen.

Our biggest complaint was infrequency of fresh plates and insufficient amount of serving ware. If those things were there, it would have elevated our experience.

I was really disappointed by Proxy. We did the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing and while most dishes were fine nothing stood out as exceptional. The desserts were extremely disappointing and the wine paring was underwhelming and extremely stingy with the pours. Overall we found the value for money to be very poor. The one bright spot was that the service was quite good.

Monday night dinner date, tasting menu + cocktails. The thing about high-end tasting menus is that, so often, there are a few misses in there with the hits. Courses that you nibble at and wait for the time to pass until something new arrives. Not so at Proxi. Every single dish—and there are a generous, almost too-generous number of dishes to choose from!—was terrific. Even something as simple as roasted carrots was thought-provoking. The eclectic nature of the meal added to the experience: by the time the third or fourth thing is on the table, you’ve forgotten what you chose from the tasting menu options, so what follows is a series of delightful surprises. That sense of forgetting is helped along by the excellent cocktails. Proxi’s selection in this department is strong, literally and figuratively. Variety, imagination, precision—everything you’d want in a cocktail program. This would also be a great stop just for a drink or two at the end (or beginning) of the night. Highly recommended. Proxi delivered one of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago, full stop.

Chef's Menu was a great option. Really enjoyed the Yuba skewers and Foie Gras. Lamb Kofta Kabab and Crispy Rice Cake with Jumbo Lump Crab was great. The Berkshire Pork Collar was amazing

This was our first visit and we decided to try the chef's tasting menu (my husband added the wine pairing). We began with one in our group ordering The Hot Seat cocktail which she really enjoyed. However, the word "shaken" doesn't mean what you might expect - - the cocktail was served with ice. I ordered the Dream a Little Dream "zero proof" cocktail. I enjoyed it but it is basically a blueberry-blend fruit juice with a LOT of crushed ice. If I had to do it again, I'd pass simply because of the price tag. The food for each course was very good and nicely presented. With the exception of the dessert, the dishes that were part of this specific Chef's Menu all had a distinct Asian influence. My only complaint about the food was that, with the menus having been swept away after we ordered and the servers talking either very quickly or very quietly or both, we honestly had no idea what each dish represented. Moreover, because the dishes for each course were served family style, we consistently had to ask for a spoon to use as a serving utensil or a knife to divide the tamale or cake or single item into separate servings. The same held true for coffee - I had to remind the server that I had asked for cream and then had to wait for a bit, as my coffee cooled, for it to arrive. Yes, it was a Friday night and, yes, the restaurant was busy. But it was more of a "moderate" busy than a "crushed" busy. We all appreciated the fact that the tables were not on top of each other, the music was present but not overpowering, and the overall ambience was pleasant. My husband noted that the wine pairing, while fine, was nothing special. The explanation of the wine was hurried and there was no explanation of why the wine was chosen for the dish. My husband also noted that the red wine was served in a white wine glass. On the one hand, not a big deal, but on the other hand, not what one expects in this price range. Overall, a very nice dinner but perhaps a bit overpriced.
