Disappointing Father's Day Afternoon Tea at Priory Restaurant I regret to say that our Father's Day afternoon tea experience at the Priory Restaurant in Hitchin Priory Hotel was thoroughly disappointing. For £24 per person, we expected a delightful and memorable outing, but what we received was far from it. First and foremost, the food was incredibly dry and tasteless. The selection of sandwiches was very poor, with fillings that were both unimaginative and unappealing. The presentation did little to help matters, as the sandwiches were haphazardly arranged and looked unappetizing. The tea, which is supposed to be the highlight of an afternoon tea experience, was a huge letdown. It was clear that the tea was bought from a supermarket, offering nothing special or unique. We were hoping for a selection of fine teas to choose from, but what we got was bland and uninspiring. Adding to the disappointment was the non-existent service. The staff was very difficult to find and, when we did manage to locate someone, they seemed to have no clue what they were doing. This lack of attention and professionalism further diminished the experience, making it feel disorganized and neglected. Overall, the experience was not worth the £24 per person we were charged. The quality of the food and tea did not justify the price, and we left feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. I would not recommend the Priory Restaurant for an afternoon tea experience, especially if you are looking for something special to celebrate a meaningful occasion.

Went to the Priory Hotel for Sunday dinner yesterday for the first time and highly recommend!! 🤤 The food was lovely and the service was spot on! I had the roast chicken and my husband had the roast beef and both were lovely. We were served by David and Luke and they really couldn’t do enough for us, so friendly and very happy in their roles. Can honestly say it was one of the nicest Roasts I’ve had in Hitchin

We had the loveliest afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. The room was lovely and the tables were well spread out. The afternoon tea itself was lovely and it was nice to have a choice of herbal teas too.

Had lovely afternoon tea with 3 friends. Sandwiches and cakes were great and our waiter was very attentive.

Service outstanding, good excellent. Would’ve had more atmosphere if more people in the area. Only one other table occupied when we were there

A 2 course Sunday lunch was good, beef in particular and good value. However, the lack of staffing was obvious, with some serving and answering the phone, which meant the service was a little slow.

The main menu was outstanding. Well cooked, well presented and good value. staff were new so that side was a bit patchy but they were polite and attentive.

Very quiet with only one other lunch booking and one afternoon tea. Food was good enough- it’s hard to get a roast wrong. But inexperienced staff needed more supervision- didn’t know what a wine list was. But price was good and it wouldn’t take much for it to get to the next level. Plastic menus including typos (Marlot not Merlot Sheiv not Shiraz) give a poor first impression.
