Primavera has known many lives as both restaurant and residence. Originally built by a member of the Purdy family, one of the original settlers in the area, it was also known as the 1864 House, so named for its date of construction. Although the building has been renovated several times, the bones of the house are still recognizable, especially as one looks up to the charming garret, whose flat roof, sometimes called a widow’s walk, often served as an observation platform.

Mona Trattoria, a family-operated Italian restaurant that operated for some 30 years, followed after the home was converted to a restaurant. In 2002, actor Stanley Tucci bought it and renamed it Finch Tavern, renovating it with dark wood shutters and soft yellow banquettes that feel fresh today. In 2006, Jimmy Gjevukaj and his family took over the premises and relaunched the restaurant as Primavera, continuing the tradition of fine Italian dining in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Service and quality of food was very good. Portions were normal, not too small, not too big. Noise level was above average. We have dined there several times over the years and I would rate it a 4 out of 5 overall. A bit pricey but then again, what isn't these days...

Beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous old house. Service was wonderful, very attentive. Food was very good, shellfish plate fresh, crab meat fresh, lobster bisque could have had a bit more lobster. Rack of lamb was excellent. Chicken parm very tasty. Banana and Strawberry Flambe delish but pricy for amount given.

Amazing Mothers Day lunch with an incredible view of the woods via a large window. Impeccable service. Soft shell crab and linguini with clam sauce was outstanding. A 10!

The only issue we had was the noise level. There was a family celebrating a communion and the kids were running around, screaming and hitting each other with balloons. If they had doors to close in that room that would’ve helped. Once they left it was nice and quiet.

We had an excellent meal and service was attentive without being intrusive. We were there for my sisters birthday and we hadn’t seen each other for quite a few months and we were allowed all the time we needed for our visit. A wonderful desert with 5-6 wait staff joining in for birthday song. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion or looking for a nice night out with excellent food and service.

Always a pleasure and a delight to eat at Primavera’s. Everything is always perfect. Well worth the money ,you get what you pay for.

We were a party of seven celebrating birthdays on a Sunday evening. We shared the hot antipasto and fried calamari as appetizers for the table. The entrees we selected ranged from pasta dishes (Linguini Vongole, Cavateli Broccoli Rabe & Sausage, Duck Ravioli) to chicken or beef. Several of us ordered desserts (Hot Champagne Zabaglione, Cannoli, Coconut Cream Pie, ice cream and sorbet) and coffee. Everything was delicious. The ravioli, pie, coconut sorbet and zabaglione were particularly inventive. Service was attentive and friendly, although they were a little slow at getting us the check even though the restaurant was not busy. We thought that some of the dishes were overpriced, although we enjoyed all of the food. We will plan to return for future family get-togethers.
