Chef Mathew Peters, the first American to win the prestigious Bocuse d'Or in 2017, is bringing his culinary expertise to the heart of Austin with the opening of Prelude, an elevated cocktail bar and lounge set in a historic home in West Austin.

Prelude will offer a unique Austin experience, combining innovative cocktail creations with elevated small bites. The menu will feature a curated selection of small plates, designed to complement the bar programs signature cocktails and highlight Chef Peters' culinary artistry.

Wonderful cocktails. Superb bartenders. Small bites menus was so spot on. Great sharing food. Good music, amazing art, great service. Cool vibe. We love it

My expectations for this establishment did not align with my experience. I anticipated a restored historic home, thoughtfully transformed into a serene, and elegant bar and restaurant. While the bar staff was friendly and skilled, and the food was excellent, the volume of the music was irresponsibly loud. Despite being seated just two feet from the bartender in an otherwise empty bar, we could not hear each other. From the moment I sat down, I felt eager to leave. I only remained to avoid the $25 charge associated with the OpenTable reservation policy.

"Absolutely loved this place! The vibe is incredible—chill yet vibrant, perfect for a fun night out or a relaxed evening with friends. The food was nothing short of amazing; every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. And let’s not forget the drinks—crafted to perfection, with just the right balance. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Definitely a spot I’d come back to again and again. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great time and even better food!"

Food was delicious and vibe was unmatched in Austin. Service was also second to none - everyone was friendly, professional, and our server Kait was 11/10. Date night or light bite before you go out for the night, we’ll definitely be back soon.

We didn’t eat the waiter was a bit pompous and arrogant but kind of redeemed himself at the end.

Neat idea. Drinks were okay. Not much food variety and a bit overpriced. Ambiance was classy but not pretentious

Everything leading up to our celebration at Prelude was great. Jack set us up in a nice dining room, and the place looked amazing. But our waiter made a few rude comments that made everyone uncomfortable, and he took forever to check on us. We really wanted to love it, but it just didn’t live up to our expectations, especially for the price.

Loved the ambience, decor, service and cocktails. It’s in an old house that has been renovated to perfection. Can’t wait to be back!
