Chef Mathew Peters, the first American to win the prestigious Bocuse d'Or in 2017, is bringing his culinary expertise to the heart of Austin with the opening of Prelude, an elevated cocktail bar and canapé lounge set in a historic home in West Austin. The space has a beautiful back lawn lounge with views of downtown Austin and private rooms throughout the house that can accommodate groups of 6-18 with private events options of groups up to 120 guests.

Prelude will offer a unique Austin experience, combining innovative cocktail creations with elevated small bites. The menu will feature a curated selection of small plates, designed to complement the bar programs signature cocktails and highlight Chef Peters' culinary artistry. Please note that our kitchen closes each evening at 10 pm.

Join Prélude during Happy Hour Tuesday-Thursday from 4-6 pm for $2 oysters and drink specials.

My experience was very good. The food and service were excellent. But the music noise level as well as a very loud guest (across the room) made it very difficult to have an enjoyable conservation.

Everything from the host stand to their service inside was phenomenal. The host took our pictures for us before we entered (It was our 1 year anniversary), our server Kate was super sweet and even got us bubbles to celebrate. Our cocktails were out of this world especially the melon and prosciutto!! And the bartender & manager came by to touch our table was super friendly. Whole place was just a vibe!! Will be returning soon!!

Had a great time watching the GA/TX game! Great outdoor space and excellent drinks! Service was amazing. Really great place to watch a game.

We had an excellent first visit and can’t wait to go back! The drinks are fantastic- first class all the way. Don’t miss out on the Espresso Martini!! We had the hush puppies and they were delicious. The atmosphere here is incredible. The new place to be in Austin!

This place was very cool. The interior design was off the charts. The food was not good at all. I did not recommend eating here, but the cocktails were amazing. I was super excited for the chicken nuggets and I hated them, but it was a very cool vibe it was busy, but everything was so spread out that it got really quiet and felt secluded somewhat, we had to ask to move outside because we were just sitting at a table alone where they felt like there was no people

We only came for drinks but were immediately impressed with the selection of cocktails and servers knowledge. The space itself is very attractive, tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It’s easy to have a private moment inside with your group or engage in people watching outside on the lawn. We wanted to go out afterwards and the hostess gave us several options depending on our mood. Will be back!

This is a great place for a date or a hang with friends. Cocktails are delicious, staff are friendly and very attentive and the place is dimly lit and has good music playing. Creates just good enough vibe to chat with your friends without being overheard. Great place to hang.

This place has so much potential but falls short. The ambiance is amazing, I LOVED the artist collaborations, our server Jonah was fantastic, the music was great… but the drinks were not great and everything was very overpriced. I had the melon and prosciutto cocktail because of course I had to try it. It just tasted like melon liqueur. I didn’t finish it. Both drinks we ordered came in the same tall glasses with a large vertical ice cube, which sounds cool in theory but made it difficult to drink. If there were tweaks to the cocktail menu and prices, I would be obsessed with this place.
