Potente is a sophisticated and upscale Italian restaurant located in downtown Houston led by Executive Chef Danny Trace. Every dish is locally sourced and uses only the highest quality ingredients. Try our chef favorite homemade pasta with black truffles shaved table side, petite filet with pistachio gremolata and homemade desserts sure to delight!

Our attire is relaxed formal. Shorts, hats, sneakers, torn clothing and sweat pants not permitted.

Everything was wonderful until an intoxicated couple came in from the Astros game and sat at the table next to us as we were about halfway through our final course, and then proceeded to repeatedly yell ignorant comments and profanities at the tv during the A&M game. They were Aggie fans which wasn’t surprising, and they even referenced this as an excuse to their “passionate” incoherent slurs. None of the staff asked them to keep it down or even seemed to notice how this was impacting the other guests. This is a nice restaurant after all. A handful of people even got up and left or moved after a few minutes. I finally, and as politely as I could, told them they were being a loud and it was a little much. Outside of this ruining the nice setting for my wonderful date and me, the food was fantastic as always and the drinks were spot on.

My wife and I visit Potente for special occasions often. We enjoy the romantic ambiance well paired with exquisite choice of foods. The atmosphere allows and encourages a romantic, stare into her eyes, special kind of date. Have also had the pleasure of business meetings at Potente as well. It is definitely one of the top choices for fine dining with a quiet enough atmosphere to be conducive to conversation. The service is as one would expect of a highly rated restaurant. Enjoy!

This is THE go-to spot for a date night, anniversary, birthday etc. Dress nice. Be prepared to drop several hundred. WELL worth it!

This was nothing less than an OUTSTANDING experience. We just returned from Tuscany two weeks ago and loved it and the food. Remarkably, this meal was even better. I had the cacio Pepe with truffles shaved at the table. Perfection. My husband had a dish with wild boar ragu and duck breast. Again, perfection. The service was equally OUTSTANDING. I don’t write many reviews and certainly don’t say this about many places. Would go to Houston from Dallas just to have dinner at Potentate. JUST PERFECTION.

our first time at this restaurant. we were looking for upscale Italian. our food was very good but we were disappointed to see items such as Fois Gras, lamb and veal on the menu. We don't eat meat at all, but I thought Fois Gras was finally a thing of the past? it would be nice if this restaurant had a few plant based entrees on the menu. It is hard to rate the service since we were there on a concert night so the place was jammed and the service was slow.

My husband and I dined at Potente after two locals made the recommendation. The staff warmly greeted us and we were seated in the beautiful dining room. We enjoyed cocktails and chose a bottle of Viader from their extensive wine list. Nicholaus, our server, was exceptionally attentive and provided great recommendations. Dinner was splendidly delicious! Each plate was beautifully presented and the flavors were harmonious. There is magic happening in the kitchen of Potente. We concluded our coursed meal with espresso martinis and pistachio cheesecake. It is very likely I will drive 4.5 hours again very soon, simply to enjoy this experience again. Absolutely wonderful!
