A favorite of Julia Child - Pot au Feu Bistro is so much more than a restaurant... Established in 1972, our cozy Bistro is the oldest French Bistro in America. Pot au Feu Bistro kicked off the Providence Restaurant Renaissance being the first to offer something other than “steak, spaghetti and chow mien”.
Located in the Historic Downtown we are just minutes from all the hotels and convention center.

    Great dining experience from the moment we walked in the door to departure. Great waitstaff (Antigone!) and delicious food. Really appreciated the awesome non-alc martini, too! Can't wait to go back.

    This was a terrific experience. The food was great and the waitress was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations for wine pairings and desert. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Providence.

    Pot au Feu is a special place, where the staff knows you and greets you like a friend. Fellow diners know you because it’s their favorite restaurant too. It’s where a simple conversation with a stranger becomes a memorable moment. The food and drinks are always exquisite.

    Delightful and unique in every way. Delicious food with everything made in house. The most difficult part of the menu is choosing between so many tempting options. We had a steak and a seafood dish and both were phenomenal in quality, flavor and execution. It was a pleasure to eat so well! Delicious soups and pate. Do not skip dessert! I think I dreamt about that crème brûlée. Nicely curated cocktail and wine lists. Top notch service—knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. We felt taken care of by the staff and the engaging owner. The ambiance is an amazing mix of unique style and cozy comfort. We had a romantic dinner but I could imagine having a lovely dinner with friends or family. It’s worth the visit just to check out all the historic features of the building and the bevy of original artwork. The sculpture that is their bar and the tin ceiling in the open kitchen were my favorites. We will be back and highly recommend that you follow suit. Thanks for an unforgettable experience, Pot au Feu!

    We celebrated at Pot Au Feu for our 20th wedding anniversary. The restaurant was very quaint in a lower level building in Providence nestled near other nearby bars and restaurants to visit after dinner. They sat us at a special table and were very attentive throughout our dinner. The waitress(Courtney) was great-personable and knowledgeable about the menu items, the bartender was also very attentive and friendly. The owner went to each table and introduced himself throughout the evening and asked how our experience was. We both had their top two signature dishes and WOW! incredible! It was like a euphoria of flavor and texture. Oh and do not pass up on dessert!! You wont be sorry. My husband had the Beef Bourguignon which is their specialty dish and I had the Bouillabaisse Marseilles. The entrees came with the best in house made French bread with creamy butter and salad. Dessert was Creme Brulee and a rich chocolate pudding/mouse with whipped cream

    Absolutely fantastic. One of the best places in Providence. The seafood Pot Au Fue was lifechanging.

    Pot au Feu continues to be one of our favorite restaurants of all time. It's just such a comforting experience from the ambiance to the spectacular food. It is an absolute must try. Bob and his team are so welcoming and attentive. Truly a unique experience.
