Our oysters are so wonderful – they actually inspired us to open an Oyster Bar in Bath! Come and enjoy them for yourself and join our fan club! We receive deliveries daily from the morning’s catch in Devon and Cornwall. Our aim is simple, to give you the freshest, most delicious seafood experience imaginable.

Whether it’s one-off specials from the day’s landings, or our gourmet twist on traditional English fish and chips with champagne batter that will take your fancy, our exceptional menu has something really special for everyone.

The influence from our Italian roots brings you wonderful pasta dishes and for something truly unique you must try our signature ‘Italian Sashimi platter’, prepared using The West Country’s finest raw fish and seafood.

The food was delicious. One staff member was fabulous, one fine and another a bit miserable but responded to requests when we got her attention (it was a very quiet night). The chairs are comfortable which is of particular importance to one of our party.

Beautiful plump Scallops cooked perfectly. Mussels were delicious- for me personally perhaps a tad too much cream in the mussel stock but nevertheless a good dish. Service excellent- a good team so worth the service charge.

Come here very regularly. The food and service is always great and last night was no exception. Had the grilled fish for two - it was lovely. The side of chips was also great. Shared a pistachio profiterole dessert - nice. Well done once again Portpfino.

Porto Fino is a good restaurant. Apart from Italian food their fish and chips is very good. Prices verge on the expensive for my budget!

We decided to go for dinner at Portofino on our wedding anniversary, having walked by several times since it opened, we were interested in trying it out. Sadly we left with a commitment not to rush back. It’s a shame because it could have been lovely… but it missed the fundamentals which resulted in a pretty lacklustre experience. Apart from the confusing, tired decor and dingy lighting, the young and inexperienced staff lacked the energy, attention and personality needed to create a convivial, relaxed atmosphere. Overall the restaurant lacked joy, which seemed to betray the promise of an Italian fish restaurant bearing the name of such an iconic, glamorous location. The food, which curiously managed to reflect the decor, provided no ‘wow’ moments at all. Nothing stood out as spectacular or memorable. The seasoning was all over the place and felt more reactive than considered. It lacked any imagination, sense of passion or a genuine interest in cooking. Fish is delicate and unforgiving in its preparation; if it isn’t made with respect and care, it will readily reveal the cook’s approach to the diner. Despite being told the swordfish was ‘fresh today’, I was not convinced as it lacked the texture I would expect and presented as slightly mushy which was more consistent with previously frozen fish. Wine list was dull. When booking online there is a text box asking if you are celebrating an occasion. I stated ‘anniversary’, but this was not acknowledged at anytime during our visit, leaving me wondering why they bother to enquire. Sadly it was a very disappointing and not inexpensive experience. Not good enough really… would not recommend.

Food is pretty good and reasonably priced too. Also, the staff really welcoming and accommodating. However, beware if you sit outside in the daytime as we couldn’t hear ourselves think due to the bin collectors - it never seemed to stop! We have eaten here before and had a great time. This time it was much quieter and as a result our food arrived too quickly really and we felt a bit rushed. It was over and done with in just over an hour and that was a bit disappointing- maybe just let people pause a bit between courses? The wine was a little warm too but they sorted that out for us. Can’t fault the service at all in that way. We would come back for sure but we would eat later, sit inside and ask for a bit more time to enjoy ourselves as the speed of service actually was the thing we enjoyed the least hence the star rating provided.
