Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.

A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.

The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. The menu features an array of antipasti, handmade egg pasta, gluten free risottos, Bolognese lasagna, tiramisu, and baked goods . A market in the front is stocked with take-n-bake entrees

Traditional, rustic, hand made from scratch, Italian food, made by an authentic recent Bolognese immigrant from an old world restaurant family. You would normally have to fly 1/2 way around the globe to have this type of culinary experience, which you can get right here in West Sonoma County, at a very reasonable price...The stuffed pastas are all outstanding and anything "Bolognese" i.e. Lasagne, is out of this world...

We loved the local-restaurant-down-the-street vibe where everyone feels welcome. Never felt rushed and we could enjoy great time with friends and family. Bonus: Excellent food! Will be back.

Food options are very good and service is great. The food changes regularly and offers many different meals. The staff is very nice and very helpful.

How they can elevate a very simple pasta dish is beyond me. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent! And the prices were quite reasonable.
