Porthminster Kitchen serves up a refreshing, playful take on Cornish cuisine, introducing a menu of smaller plates and lighter options which combine global flavours, fresh local ingredients and creative cooking.

We have stripped out much of what is unnecessary; dairy and gluten take a backseat in favour of fresh and exciting textures and flavours.

Porthminster Kitchen enjoys awe-inspiring panoramic views from its location in the heart of St Ives. From your vantage point above the harbour, escape the hustle and bustle and relax on our sun-drenched terrace, or gaze out from huge windows and take in the 180° view.

Four of us ate here last night we brought our dog with us and were seated in the appropriate area. We had two fish and chips which was excellent and two catch of the day (Cornish sole) which was wonderful. This is the third year in a row I have been here, always a great meal and I’m sure I will be coming again next year. You can’t get a better view over the harbour a really special experience.

Lovely food, exceptional service & a relaxed atmosphere. Our dog was catered for too in a very thoughtful way for us & other guests.

It’s difficult not to go for the squid starter, as it’s so tasty. We had the fish and chips and steak, (medium rare), main courses and they were cooked beautifully, presented appealingly and both melted in your mouth. We had the chocolate brownie and rice pudding desserts and they were both beautifully presented and tasty. We had a bottle of chilled South African rose wine which was a delightful accompaniment to the meal. The staff were polite, friendly, efficient, and helpful. The restaurant has amazing views across the harbour and has a calm ambiance. We try to visit whenever we’re in St Ives and it’s always a delight. Highly recommend.

Food was absolutely delicious. Staff were fabulous. We were very disappointed that Sunday dinner was only available until 3pm. We booked for 5:30 and were really excited about having Sunday roast so it was upsetting to not be able to have that. It would have been nice to know before we arrived to avoid disappointment. The scollops were insanely tasty but the portion was incredibly small for the price. On a whole we thought some of the food was very reasonably priced but other items were very expensive.

All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Starters were great- scallops, squid, pork belly Steak was excellent, beautiful sea bream and monkfish curry very flavoursome but felt the latter a bit pricey for the amount of monkfish in it, Would definitely visit again

Excellent menu & service in the midst of St Ives. Really friendly and helpful staff and delicious food and drinks. We had a series of cock ups with timings/taxis/numbers and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. I had meant to book the Restaurant upstairs at Porthminster Cafe ( they are all connected I think) and got muddled - but this was equally delicious and being smaller and overlooking the Harbour, had more of a buzz. We ll be back to both.

Really considered, delicious food. Not too pretentious, but still felt special. Mix of punters - folks fresh from the beach in flip flops, and others out for the evening, but predominantly casual vibe. Lovely serving staff who seemed to enjoy their jobs - sign of a good restaurant who look after their people one assumes. We booked here by accident, meaning to book the beach cafe on Porthminster Beach, but are glad we did! Small, considered menu, plus daily specials menu, nicely weighted toward fish. Kitchen kindly did a half size of a main for my 9yo daughter who wanted seafood linguine, and adapted a kids dish (no sweet potato) in the prawn curry for my 10yo son. Was also plainer kids dishes (fish and chips) available, but it’s not a chicken nugget and chips sort of place if that’s what your kids go for. Seafood adult mains were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Would certainly return next year.

The food is beautifully presented and tasty. The scallops we had as starters were the best I’ve eaten. The ambience was very loud around 8, couldn't hear what people were saying half a metre away from me. We sat inside, but the outside with the sea view looked great.
