Porthminster Cafe in St Ives is a multi award winning seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty.

A return visit and so lovely to have fresh seafood - emphasis on the fresh. Beautifully cooked. Expensive but we are happy to pay for really good food. Great service too! Ambience - a bit squashed and the vibe is cafe. We love the setting by the sea but disappointed that despite asking for a table by window on booking (special birthday), this was ignored. Still a gem and we’ll be back I’m sure.

A lovely restaurant with friendly staff, and with amazing views across to St Ives harbour The food as always, was wonderful and beautifully presented.

The location and view can't be beaten. This is a very special place. The service is charming. I have been many times and it never disappoints. On a shoulder season weekday the glazed terrace area was closed so the main area had a busy, cosy buzz. My fish curry was as delicious as always despite no longer being exclusively monkfish. The restaurant remains a must on any visit to St Ives.

The menu showcased local fresh ingredients. The wine list included a modest but good selection of wine by the glass, and also had some alcohol free choices. Our tuna sashimi starter with finger lime was melt-in-the-mouth outstanding and the oysters sublime- both dishes treated the components with respect and honesty. The fish of the day was local hake, beautifully cooked and balanced perfectly with a bed a delicious mashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes and zucchini. The crab linguini was al-denté and the depth of the bisque sauce enhanced the crab meat perfectly. Dessert of a chai sponge with cardamom ice cream and stewed cumquat bookended a perfect evening of fine dining. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable about the menu, and while this was a reasonably expensive meal, it was well worth every penny.

We were unsure what to expect due to the name of the place and thought perhaps it may be more of a cafe based venue but the menu looked really good so we took the risk and so glad we did. The staff we really good and especially the food was fantastic, if I wanted more from the experience then only a window table would have been perfect. If I wanted to give advice, I think they could lower the light levels slightly and perhaps a small candle on the table but we both loved the evening and would go back, a great night to our first night in St.Ives

Our second visit to this restaurant, and we weren’t disappointed upon our return. A lovely menu with delicious food and excellent service. The setting can’t be beat, right on Porthminster Beach. Highly recommend for a visit to St. Ives
