Nestled beneath the steep slopes of Porthminster Point, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round for coffee, lunch and dinner.
Porthminster Cafe in St Ives is a multi award winning seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty.
A Holiday in St Ives would not be complete without going to the beach. Here at Porthminster Beach we have one of the cleanest beaches in the South West. We have been given the prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the highest of standards.

    Superb service from both our server and the chefs to ensure that my dietary needs were met. Food was very good with quality ingredients expertly prepared. My only criticism would be the choice of puddings available. After a rich and complex meal I often prefer ice cream or sorbet to finish. I would be very happy to have one made on the premises to the Porthminster’s high standards. Faced on this occasion with a choice of rich puddings I just passed on dessert. Shame. Otherwise a fabulous meal.

    Beautiful food for our anniversary dinner. We had a wonderful time, great service and beautiful location. Would definitely come again for a special occasion. Thank you

    Over priced for what it is, for the cost one of the staff was abrupt and not pleasant. Wouldn't go back, I've eaten in a lot better restaurants for less money. They are taking advantage of the beautiful view. Don't get me wrong the quality of food was good but for the price and standard of service it wasn't worth 178 pounds for 2 people.

    The food here is to die for. The friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff are a credit to their craft and the wines are superb... and all the while, you are looking out over the sandy beach of Porthminster, gazing over the bay toward Godrevy Lighthouse in the sunset... does it get any better than this?

    Idyllic- return visit after 20 years gap! A wonderful experience and we’ll try not to leave it so long! Fish curry was amazing- thank you

    Recommended to go here and we were not disappointed. Fantastic food and a great view over the bay.

    A lovely and gracious atmosphere, with exceptional views of the beach and the old town across the harbour. The food is always carefully conceived, and the menu changes specials daily while staying of highest quality, and is consistently flavourful even during the height of the season. The staff is well trained and kind, with an openhearted and even playful spirit which brings a warm sense of overall goodness to the dining experience. We always go back and we're always gratified.

    The food was outstanding, delicious, well cooked and just the right amount. The ambience and view are breathtaking. The staff and service are second to none, friendly, polite, helpful and attentive. Overall I can only find ONE fault. I normally leave a tip, of my own volition, for 10% of the bill, and was going to anyway since the staff deserved it. However, I find the idea of AUTOMATICALLY adding a 12.5% tip to a bill, with the onus then put fully on the customer decline it if they felt it necessary, with the pressure therefore, on most people to pay up to avoid a scene, appalling. I almost decided to decline paying a tip for this reason, but paid it to avoid being churlish and because the staff did deserve it. I KNOW staff in St Ives probably struggle to afford to live in St Ives, but it would be better to just charge more for the meal in order to be able to pay them a proper wage, than to add an “optional” tip to the end bill. I’m sorry, but this IS a bugbear for me, and I know it is for many others.

    Lovely setting. Stunning views of the beach. My wife’s Tuna starter was tiny. And main course Lobster was cold. Disappointing as we had been recommended the restaurant by friends.
