Nestled beneath the steep slopes of Porthminster Point, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round for coffee, lunch and dinner.
Porthminster Cafe in St Ives is a multi award winning seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty.
A Holiday in St Ives would not be complete without going to the beach. Here at Porthminster Beach we have one of the cleanest beaches in the South West. We have been given the prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the highest of standards.

    Our second visit to this restaurant, and we weren’t disappointed upon our return. A lovely menu with delicious food and excellent service. The setting can’t be beat, right on Porthminster Beach. Highly recommend for a visit to St. Ives

    Excellent food . The reception by the Maitre d’ was poor with no welcome and to have the table pointed at and just told “it’s over there” There were a lot of flies in the restaurant on the window by our table.

    Informal place right on the beach with ambitious menu - largely seafood. Some of the food was terrific, other dishes just ok. Our waiter was terrific - easy going and sweet. The prices were steep!

    My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant many times over the last 10/15years on our annual visits to St Ives and up until now the food has been exceptional. My wife’s food last night was cold and we should have complained. Whilst the content of my fish curry was good it was also warm at best.

    Superb service from both our server and the chefs to ensure that my dietary needs were met. Food was very good with quality ingredients expertly prepared. My only criticism would be the choice of puddings available. After a rich and complex meal I often prefer ice cream or sorbet to finish. I would be very happy to have one made on the premises to the Porthminster’s high standards. Faced on this occasion with a choice of rich puddings I just passed on dessert. Shame. Otherwise a fabulous meal.

    Beautiful food for our anniversary dinner. We had a wonderful time, great service and beautiful location. Would definitely come again for a special occasion. Thank you

    The service was attentive but relaxed, and the view impressive, although no more or less so than most beachside or cliff top restaurants. The problem to our mind is that the food prices are significantly higher than the muddled and inconsistent kitchen can justify. We are reasonably easy to please and we do recognise that lots of restaurants are struggling post Brexit and Covid, but what we paid wasn’t reflected in the food quality or presentation. This restaurant seems to believe its own hype, but if it was ever justified it seems to have drifted.

    We had a lovely evening meal here. What a great setting with friendly & attentive staff. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked, would definitely return.

    Excellent quality food, we ordered a selection of starters to share and one of our party had the prawn curry main. All food was fresh and cooked perfectly. The cafe has a beautiful view of Carbis Bay and you can eat indoors or out. The service was exceptional, a lovely Slovakian lady looked after our table and she was fantastic. The food is quite expensive but I think that’s justified given the quality. The only downside was the accessibility for my elderly parents. It’s a shame that there isn’t a disabled toilet at road level.

    Over priced for what it is, for the cost one of the staff was abrupt and not pleasant. Wouldn't go back, I've eaten in a lot better restaurants for less money. They are taking advantage of the beautiful view. Don't get me wrong the quality of food was good but for the price and standard of service it wasn't worth 178 pounds for 2 people.
