Nestled beneath the steep slopes of Porthminster Point, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round for coffee, lunch and dinner.
Porthminster Cafe in St Ives is a multi award winning seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty.
A Holiday in St Ives would not be complete without going to the beach. Here at Porthminster Beach we have one of the cleanest beaches in the South West. We have been given the prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the highest of standards.

    We always try to eat here at least once when visiting St Ives. On this trip the food was exceptional as usual. I had the skate, mrs G had the sea bass, bothe lovely. Prices have gone up quite a bit, and I think they’ve squeezed a couple of extra tables in, which made the place seem a little crowded. Overall great food and service, will definitely return.

    Porthminster Cafe is located in a beautiful beach setting in St Ives. The food was excellent and highly recommend the fish and chips. Service was attentive and our table overlooked the beach. Porthminster Cafe is really popular and I recommend booking in advance.

    Food was meh and overpriced, dishes all seemed to have a similar flavor profile that was not all that appealing. Everyone was ordering the fish and chips, wish we had done the same - it seemed to be very popular. But why would you go to a fine dining place for fish and chips? Service was ok, our server was new and really couldn’t offer much help with the menu. Maybe our experience would have been better with a more experienced waitperson.

    The service was slick. The waitresses were excellent. You couldn’t fault the food. However the place had a corporate feel, the staff tee shirts with the logos, the slight tension in the air, and the forced sense of coolness/relaxation. Where was the ambience ? A couple of nights earlier we ate in a husband and wife run restaurant in West Cornwall. It didn’t disappoint and yet it wasn’t Bib Gourmand (but recommended in the Good Food Guide). In fairness , perhaps this restaurant is what is expected by the St Ives clientele. We shall be eating again this week in the other West Cornwall restaurant…

    Excellent food in a lovely location on the beach. We sat outside on the balcony. It was my wife’s birthday and she said it was the best meal she had had in a long time. Staff were attentive and always helpful. Pricey, but worth it for the location and quality of the food.

    Consistently splendid......been coming here a long time and the quality has never dipped in all those years. A truly great restsurant.

    Essen war prima und der Service war freundlich. Der Preis war London-like, vermutlich wegen der Location. Etwas schade finde ich, dass man (obwohl wir acht Wochen im voraus reserviert haben), keinen Tisch am Fenster bekommt. Die sind den 4er Gruppen vorbehalten. Angeblich. Wenn dann ein Paar eintrifft, das irgendwie speziell zu sein scheint, sitzt es am 4er Tisch mit Blick aufs Meer. Das ist ärgerlich. Insgesamt war es um 20 Uhr voll und wider Erwarten recht elegant. Das haben wir unterschätzt. Nächstes Mal also eher casual chic :-)

    The food was fine, except my veggie wife felt somewhat restricted in choice. We were disappointed (after many previous visits) not to be in the main restaurant (which wasn’t being used) and the other room was noisy especially as it was dominated by a loud shouty & sweary man - not the restaurant’s fault but it was an echoey space and he was sitting in a corner that acted like a megaphone. We and three other couple were moved, leaving a ring of empty tables round the loud party!
