Nestled beneath the steep grassy slopes of St Ives “Island”, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty. The café is open daily for a selection of patisserie and the finest coffee.

A Holiday in St Ives would not be complete without going to the beach. Here at Porthgwidden Beach we have one of the cleanest beaches in the South West. We have been given the prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the highest of standards.

Staff great and moved us to a window seat. Lobster over cooked, a bit chewy and rocket salad was just that, a pile of rocket.

as locals (and my wife works in st ives) we do like to pop into the porthgwidden beach cafe when we can yesterday we had guests over from UE so had a wonderful lunch. food was fantastic as usual my wife and i both had sea food linguine and guests had the excellent fish n chips . the ambience was wonderful and the staff as always were really good .. could not be any better

We enjoyed our dinner at the Porthgwidden while staying in St Ives. The menu was nice but overall, we felt it was overpriced for what we had. I had the Mackerel Pate which was a special starter, I’m afraid it didn’t taste of fish at all and i was left wondering if it was mushroom pate given in error, It tasted very odd. I then had the half Lobster. It was nice but there were only 3 bites of lobster in it including the claw and for £28 that seemed a bit steep. My OH had thr cauliflower starter and the fish and chips and he said they were good. We also had a bottle of Rose wine - the cheapest was £28 and it was just ok. Our bill came to over £100 which was pricey given that i came away still hungry. A bit disappointing!

Great restaurant fantastic location, food enhances the ambience of the restaurant. Staff are great a gem, mind and book as very busy.

Service was mixed - the first server that sat us down and got the drinks was good, but a second server then took over who was very perfunctory, gave the definite impression of not really wanting to be there, just earning money to fund the surfing habit. Fair enough I suppose but not good from the perspective of the paying customer. Nearly removed the pre-added 12.5% service charge from the bill, but decided I could do without the confrontation.

We had fabulous welcome at this great cafe restaurant overlooking Porthgwidden beach. It was a busy evening. After being seated we noticed a couple leaving a table with a sea view and when we asked they were more than happy to have it prepared and move us over. The meal was superb. We have to say, the service and genuine interest shown to us during our visit was outstanding. This was our last evening in St Ives and Porthgwidden Cafe was the icing on the cake. Very many thanks to Claire, Ruby and Millie for giving us a fabulous evening to remember. Your people skills and nothing-too-much-trouble attitude is a credit to you all! See you next year.
