The food was terrible, both starters and mains were returned to the kitchen. We didn’t have anything further in terms of an alternative.

The food was delicious my husband hasn’t stopped talking about how good the liver dish was The chorizo with the oysters was a great touch We will be back

Absolutely outstanding. The staff were very friendly and attentive, they gave us advice on what to order with genuine passion. The food was exceptional cooked to a very high standard and very reasonably priced. Certainly one of the best meals I’ve had.

It wasn’t that busy and we had to wait an hour for our first course. Three tables who came in after us got served before us. That’s never great. The staff we lovely. We’ll be back as the quality of the food was outstanding.

We tend to eat here 5/6 times a year. This time we were disappointed with the meal which seemed to have been changed from what we have had before. The crispy oysters (2) did not compare with the previous straight forward (3) oysters in their shell. Similarly I thought the steak was poor as against what we have had for the last 3 years with far too many fries as against a rather small steak. Last year June 2023 my wife had the oysters and steak which also had a red onion mixture together with butter and on 21 April 2023 steak with fried egg, sauce and the usual chips. This years did not compare favourably and you will be able to see with my previous reviews that I have given an "excellent" review on several occasions. I am sorry to have to report like this but thought it only reasonable to give our opinion that the quality of food had slipped. The service was as usual excellent. I would recommend to a friend but qualify it with advising to study the express menu very carefully, we have had no reason to scrutinise this previously as the quality has always been to an excellent standard and consistent ingredients.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday Roast lunch at Porterhouse. The food was exceptional as always, the roast beef was cooked to our liking, with perfectly cooked veg and it was all presented beautifully. We were served by Alex and Lottie who made us feel so welcome as well as being extremely friendly and personable. A huge thank you to all the staff for a job well done.

Absolutely outstanding as usual the chateubriand is just to die for and the black pudding well just everything really! It's expensive but worth every penny never fails to be absolutely delicious !! We will be back again soon!
