Port City Club by David Burke is a uniquely designed 13,500 sq. ft. waterfront restaurant located on beautiful Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake, known as the "Inland Sea" . It is the largest inner port in the Carolina's and boasts 520 miles of shoreline. Each of the rooms has a view of the Lake and was designed to be bright, cheerful, and reflect a casual yet classy atmosphere.

We had not revisited this restaurant since we discovered it after our move to the area 5.5 years ago so we wanted to try it again with some friends who had also previously tried it but were not enticed to go often. The restaurant footprint is huge (not cozy or remarkable in layout) and staffing is small so you could be left for long periods of time once the server disappeared into the main restaurant (we were in the covered outer patio). Food was good -- the whipped goat cheese appetizer in particular was very good -- but good is as much as I can say. Our side salads were brought out with our entrees which made for a full table of plates. The Kale Caesar was also very good but the mushroom ravioli, while it had wonderful flavor, was dry -- like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The Sea Bass was nicely done though. The other entree salads were good as well while not remarkable. The question is: was that enough to entice us to go back often and sadly the answer is no. Maybe for drinks on the outdoor patio in nice weather but I would not put it on my hot list of restaurants to frequent which makes me sad since there are so few restaurants on the lake.

There are less items to choose from on the menu. I was very disappointed.

The restaurant is looking very dated and shabby. Ordered Cioppino (which was very good). Delivered to the table by a kid who looked about 15. I asked for a bowl for shells. He looked confused but brought me another soup bowl. I asked for the little forks to for the mussels. Again he looked confused. When he returned, he said they didn't have any. I then asked for a soup for the broth. Rather than a soup spoon, he brought me a dinner spoon. It was obvious that neither he nor our server had been taught how to serve Copping. Later the server apologized for the lack of the little forks. She said they used to have them but not anymore. We had Cioppino and salmon. We had no sides which are extra cost. No bread is offered or available. We had no drinks. For this the bill was $80.00!! The environment and service here is no way worth that high cost. We will not be returning anytime in the near future. This is sad because it used to be a very nice restaurant.

The restaurant was basically out of everything that we ordered from beverages to entrées. Also no air conditioning.

The restaurant is beautiful, clean and the view is great. Where it looses a few stars is in service. I asked the server about an entree I was considering. The Cioppino sounded interesting but I didn’t want anything too rich. She said it was a heavy, filling meal because it was served over pasta. I almost didn’t order it but decided I could just eat half and take the rest home. There was no pasta in the dish! Staff shouldn’t describe dishes they are unfamiliar with! I almost passed up an incredible meal. A simple, “I’m not sure, I’ll ask” would have been the way to go. Because I took a risk, dinner was terrific. A good server doesn’t make it up. The chef would not be happy.

Not sure what changed at Port City, not the experience we’ve had in the past. Haven’t been there in over year as we moved out of area. - after seating no one came for drink orders. My wife had to go find our server - served my Negroni with a lime instead of an orange - menu seems much smaller - small plates very small and expensive - prices range from $18 for burger to +60 for steak We don’t mine paying up if we have top notch service / value. We didn’t feel that here. Mooresville / Cornelius/ Davidson area has lots of good alternatives. Not bad, just not great.

Service was slow and underwhelming. Hostess was great, wished my wife a happy birthday as I had noted in reservation. Waitress was inattentive and every interaction we had felt rushed. We were interested in desserts for my wife’s bday but service was so slow and waitress didn’t even offer dessert, just brought our check. So we did dessert elsewhere. We’ve come to PCC for years, not sure we’ll be back anytime soon.

We did the $85 culinary experience. Perhaps this was an off evening for them. It was my first visit and they were highly recommended. It was so-so. Service and ambiance—-very good. Great waitstaff. I will go back for the location, but will stick to drinks and appetizers.

The cocktails were yummy and the bartender was friendly and helpful. We had a great table for our group of 8 ,a 30th Birthday ! Everyone loved their dinners.They were happy to serve us the cake we brought.. We all enjoyed ourselves.

The food was tasty, nice atmosphere, good people. However several failures were noted. Our appetizer was served with our dinner, our meals were barely warm. We ordered wine which our well meaning server brought three quarters of the way through dinner and promptly split the cork. Confused we instructed her to push the cork into the bottle and decant it, which was done by the friendly well meaning manager. We were not comped for this. Overall, good people working in an understaffed environment. With so many choices here we hesitate to return. Sad.
