Play food & wine will make serious food fun and accessible to many types of guests by offering an inspiring menu, legendary service, outstanding values and a culinary home for our guests in which they can spend a variety of occasions.

All of our dishes are modest portions designed to share. This allows guests to sample a few different dishes without having to commit to just one main course as in a traditional restaurant. Our menu changes frequently, respecting product availability and seasonality.

We are committed to working with our many great suppliers to source the best and most flavourful ingredients possible. We use local, sustainable and seasonal products whenever possible, and believe in supporting area farmers as much as we can.

                                                    We had a great time at Play. The service was excellent, and our server spread out the service of each plate so we had time to enjoy each one. We didn’t feel rushed, and each plate was delicious, and we left full and satisfied. Also, the cocktails “Bird of Paradise” and “Cordial Negroni” were so good!

                                                    There were 4 of us. Some of the dishes were good like the scallop crudo and the tomato/burrata salad. However, a number of dishes were mediocre. For example, the ribs were just OK, not particularly succulent. the deep fried potato salad was very bland and I would never have guessed that it was potato salad. The ling cod was warm, but the rest of the dish was both cold and quite vinegary; in fact our guest found she could not eat it. Kindly, this dish was taken their bill. We have usually had very good meals at Play and I was embarrassed that our food was just not up to your normal high standard.

                                                    Overall a phenomenal dining experience. Hats off to our server who recommended customizations to the menu offerings for a perfect meal. Sharing plates allowed us to sample a larger selection of menu items all which proved to be delicious and memorable in distinct ways.

                                                    Loved this on my visit to Ottawa! Such a welcoming and comfortable space, the food is inventive and SO very delicious (the cauliflower parsnip soup! Wow! Seed crusted lingcod! Tandoori halloumi!), great wine list, and the service was wonderful.
