New York City restaurateurs Pietro and Kelly Molendini took over the classic St. James farmhouse turned restaurant. The former co-owners of Vite Vinosteria in Astoria, Queens, who had moved from the city to Centerport, spent the summer renovating the dining room to a modern, clean look with neutral tones and contemporary artwork from Pietro Molendini's native Rome. They also expanded the bar from about four to 11 seats.

Pietro Molendini has spent 30 years in the food industry, with a decade of that at Cipriani and stints at both Bar Pitti and Da Silvano. Along the way, he met chef Fabian Garcia Manca, who eventually headed the kitchen at Vito Vinosteria and now joins the Molendini’s in St. James. Kelly Molendini said Manca and her husband scour the tristate area and beyond for ingredients. "They are never home," she joked, and said that the pair source some of their meat from the Bronx, burrata from New Jersey and dried pasta from Italy and Sicily.

Amazing as always…the mussels are a must. The appetizer specials are always interesting and change each week. The steaks are perfectly cooked and served with those cheesy delicious mashed purple potatoes. The pasta dishes are elevated ..this is not your typical red sauce Italian pasta. We love this restaurant and the vibe with live jazzy music in the garden or on the patio💕wine list is fantastic and won’t break the bank. Homemade desserts . It’s like Italy came to Long Island for a visit

Pietro always welcomes his dining guests with appreciation. Food and drinks are consistently excellent. The restaurant was very busy, as there are three dining areas, which makes Pietro Cucina unique: indoor, porch and outdoor patio. Live music compliments the dining experience outdoors. This is not your typical Italian restaurant. Pietro's menu highlights regional dishes. Prices are competitive with high end restaurants. Pay with cash or you will get charged a 4% credit card fee. Enjoy Pietro's complimentary Lemoncello following your dinner.

Love this place. The food is great. The service is great and the overall ambience is very nice. The owner and the staff happens to be exceptionally nice people. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing. Cesar salad and calamari was good. The veal was lacking flavor and pasta was very salty and gluey. The salmon was good. Cocktails were good. Food mediocre. Service was very slow.

Staff was friendly. Seating was open on Saturday night even though we had reservations. This was my third time here. I hoped it would be better however it left much to be desired. Our appetizer and salad were served at the same time which turned me off. The Caesar salad was very good, but the prosciutto was not great quality or flavor. For mains I had the shrimp in brandy sauce and polenta. The sauce was extremely thin and flavorless which is not how a brandy sauce is supposed to be. The polenta was delicious. My wife had the chicken and mushrooms dish which also lacked flavor and had a very thin sauce. Not sure we will be back.

We had a wonderful evening at Pietro Cucina The food was amazing and the ambiance was fantastic and lively. We were attended to very actively. The service was impeccable. It was our first time and will go back again and again.

had a nice dinner outdoor patio. patio has about 20 tables, despite being roadside its not noisy and is nice. we had the eggplant tower appetizer, was absolutely delicious, was huge. we had the pasta with short rib, homemade pasta was excellent. we had the tuna tartare app, we did not like it, tuna was very fresh, just a big too much paprika. service was very good, food i would consider excellent, prices were very reasonable.

As always the food was good. We ate outside for first time and enjoyed the music, Service was a little slower but the servers had to go in and out of restaurant. Which seemed to slow them down. We’ll be back but eating inside next time!

This is our second time at Pietro and it did not dissapoint. The ambience is lovely - I prefer to sit inside though. The menu has so many delicious options that it makes it diffifuclt to choose. And the quality and taste of the food does not dissapoint - absolutely wonderful. The service was good too.
