Eating at the Pier is always better when the weather cooperates. Last night was a glorious evening with calm winds and moderate temperatures. We sat outside overlooking the harbor itself. Service was professional and cordial. We had the whitefish and the salmon and both dishes were outstanding in quality and presentation. The new owners are doing it right so far with this classic northern Michigan restaurant. We really appreciate their latest decision to reverse their long standing no reservations policy. Being able to book via Open Table means we will be much more frequent diners at The Pier.

The filets were cooked perfectly! Our server Betsy was very sweet and great with our kids. We love coming here!

Great location on the water. The wine pours are sizeable. However, the food is overpriced for what it is. For our appetizer, we had a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was tough and one of the pieces had not been properly cleaned. For my main course, I had the scallops and risotto. The risotto was unseasoned and clumpy. The scallops were good but the rest of the dish left much to be desired. My husband had the seafood parpadelle. This was slightly better in terms of flavor. We opted to get dessert at one of the local ice cream shops so I can’t comment on dessert.

It’s a beautiful place in a fantastic location. Service was fine although not exceptional. Our food was fine. We did think the prices were a bit high for what we got - especially the wine. Overall not a negative experience but nothing particularly noteworthy.

I have gone to the Pier for my birthday for years and have always had incredible food. I understand the restaurant and all Stafford’s properties are under new ownership which explains the revamped menu. The food my family ordered was just fine. Not great. Not bad. Just fine. It was not worth the price paid and did not live up to my past expectations. The best part of the meal was our delightful waiter Sameh. He was efficient, friendly, and a great conversationalist. I hope the new owners can bring the cuisine up to the former excellence.

Lovely meal, beautiful view, excellent service and cookies for my husband’s birthday and our friends anniversary. Fabulous crème brûlée and cherry crisp! All meals were very good!

You don't go to The Pier for the food - you go for the setting, which is perfect. The food is fine and you can find a decent Caesar salad or burger. I do miss the old menu - the salad with white cheddar and the mushroom soup!

The Pier is on of our favorite restaurants in the area and visit it every year when we are in town on vacation. The view is beautiful and the service is always impeccable. Maverick was our waiter this time and took great care of us. I was very disappointed to find out that the new ownership decided to remove the morel bisque from the menu. This soup was a unique menu item for the Stafford restaurants and something I look forward to every year. You can get seafood chowder anywhere but not morel bisque. I hope the new management will reconsider and bring back this menu favorite. I am positive I am not the only one who was disappointed this summer.
