The food was delicious and we enjoyed it. However, there were very little staff available; there were 2 people serving at the bar, but one was called to help in the kitchen. The young lady who served us was trying her best to look after everyone, however she had to juggle taking orders from diners and serve behind the bar. It being a Wednesday (we were there as it was our anniversary), I am sure that was not a normal staffing level. I understand the difficulty in deciding staffing levels. We had to wait for our food, but we had a nice time nevertheless

Nice setting and decent size car park. Dog friendly which means dogs sat with their faces on tables, yuk! Not for me, fine do it at home but I’d rather not see dogs begging for food whilst I’m Eating, each to their own. The food was good but the portions were not at all considering it is expensive. The starters took over half an hour and we took our 3 year old son. He eat his before our starters even arrived. Then we eat those and waited a further 40 mins for our mains which were small. I find that unacceptable and it wasn’t even buy, not that should have any bearing on that amount of time anyway. The staff were really pleasant and good at there jobs front of house. I personally won’t return but it’s nice enough of your not that hungry an don’t mind waiting.

Table booked for 6.30pm had a couple of drinks then ordered food at 7.15pm. People came in after we had ordered our food and they was served first. After asking numerous times how long our food would be we gave up at 8.40pm and asked for a refund. The best service we got all night was from the 2 young lads working the bar,won't be rushing back.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Pickering Arms. The food was lovely, although a few things missing from meal including bread sauce and leeks! The service was very poor, as though the staff didn’t know what they were doing. We asked for kids meals to come out asap but were given a no straight off. Also wrong drinks served! The food really is outstanding but the service lets the place down!

The Sunday roast beef was good, although it didn't come as advertised. No horseradish cream or creamed leeks. The portion size of the cauli cheese was miniscule for £4.50 - it would have fit on a tablespoon!

We booked our table for 3pm, sat waiting for 10 minutes before our drinks order was taken, after an apology for leaving us waiting, she also took our food order, drinks were served quite quickly but our food was served to the next table by mistake, this was after a 40 minute wait, the waitress explained the mix up and said ours would be 2 mins, we walked out after being offered a complimentary drink but still no sign of our Sunday lunch, very disappointed at the service as when we have previously been the food has been lovely, from what i have heard its under new management, maybe they need to review their staff/service
