Piccolo Buco Roma - set mere steps from Rome's famed Trevi Fountain - is where Cooper's Hawk Founder, Tim McEnery, first discovered Chef Luca Issa and his wonderful pizza. The ingredients were deceptively simple: creamy, indulgent mozzarella mingled with a bright and bold tomato sauce. Pasta was too soft, cooked beyond the right point. The wine wasn’t at the right temperature and we ordered a espresso coffee but were served a regular coffee.

As many know there isn’t really hope for the restaurant industry these days. As a professional chef I would give this place a solid 9/10. And that’s simply because everyone can grow, however I loved my entire experience! The food, the vibe, the atmosphere was amazing. Sat at the bar and had a great time with the bartender who even made a drink up on the spot simply because I asked. Which turned out amazing. The tempura fried blossoms were amazing & the plating was great! The spicy sausage pizza 10/10. And the Caesar salad was delicious. Shout out to the Chef and the kitchen staff for providing quality. It did not no unnoticed. One con I would have to give this place is the receptionist and the professional. She was a bit rude in my opinion. When entering my party and I was greeted with “what can I do for you?”. Straight forward just like that. It seemed as if she projected what our appearances looked and assumed something I will not say in this review to be very honest and I was taken aback instantly. We aren’t the same ethnicity as majority of what this restaurant caters too which is very understandable. Any other normal restaurant, regardless of how you look, you are greeted with a warm “hello do we have a reservation for tonight? What name would that be under?” Instead we were greeted with an almost disgusted attitude and prejudged notions that’s our kind wouldn’t even have a reservation. For my own comfortability, we declined the table reservation and opted for taking the bar. Truly believe making that decision is the sole reason this place turned out amazing for us. Remember it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it!

Love the food, service great! Table seating too close to the kitchen and other diners; noise level too much, hard to carry on a conversation, and it felt like we were competing to be heard. Except for food and service, not the best dining experience.

Charles was fantastic! He was very patient with our party and gave us amazing recommendations. Everyone was hospitable and the food was excellent.

The atmosphere was pretty amazing, as was the food. We got an outdoor table on a perfect night. Our server forgot us several times, even getting a second drink order incorrect and was unwilling to correct the problem. Just laughed it off a bit and walked away. Will go back and hope for a different server.

Our server was not attentive at all. Not a good multitasker. We waited about half hour for one pizza. While everyone else around us was getting their pizza, that came in after us.
