A treasure in the heart of Henley-on-Thames, the newest addition to the Piccolino family brings a flavour of Italy to this historic market town. Located in a grade ii listed building, the Piccolino, henley embodies the charm and sophistication of authentic Italian dining.

Set to open on Tuesday 25th June 2024, this culinary haven promises an exclusive gastronomic experience, with a stunning river walk entrance and elegantly designed spaces including two bars, a winterised courtyard, and a unique private dining room.

The restaurant features 140 seats inside and a delightful 38 seat patio, offering a picturesque setting in the town’s vibrant center.

We throughly enjoyed our dining experience at Piccolino in Henley. The staff were extremely attentive and the food was delicious. I had called earlier in the day to check that our 6.15 booking would give us enough time to get to the Henley Picturehouse for a National Theatre screening at 7.30 Juan was very helpful and suggested we pre order our food to avoid any delays. It all worked perfectly. The decor is lovely, an amazing floor leads you to the restaurant area. All of the staff were excellent and I would highly recommend a visit. Top tip - join their IR rewards scheme (free) to receive special offers. A bottle of free ( very nice and well chilled ) Prosecco if you join in September. It may take 24hrs to register the offer so sign up well before you visit.

Visited the new Piccolini in Henley, excellent tuna (perfectly cooked) and fegato alla veneziana with mash (too much fried onion). Good service and pleasant, modern ambiance. Other Italian restaurant in Henley might need to up their game!

Unfortunately the food and service don’t match the decor. We ordered the calamari and scallops for starters, both rather bland and over cooked. For mains I had the King prawn risotto, the risotto itself was cooked well however the prawns were very tough and the one King prawn was rather too old , very mushy and fishy ,so decided to err on the side of caution and leave it. My wife had the fillet steak, which was just ok, no real flavour. We cut out losses and left without trying the desserts. Service was poor, we were seated near the kitchen and there was constant shouting between the waiting and kitchen staff, not at all professional. Overall a below average experience.

It is a shame - but this place looked so promising when they started. The staff turnover is very high it appears, just chatting to the staff that is there now. It took 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine delivered to the table? Apparently, waiting staff cannot look after the wine service? It has to be done by the "sommelier"? Well, he was run ragged! Food was not as described, one of us ordered pasta with chicken - there was literally no chicken, just what looked like lumpy cheese. The restaurant manager is not responsible for the kitchen, we were told. The booking system on the App is not working. It is sad, the place looked so promising when they started.

Lovely environment and decor. Great menu, good choices and good wine list. It is quite big so can be noisy but if you want a lovely buzzy vibe you’ll not mind that.

Our third visit, and we still love it. The food is really good (though was disappointed they had run out of the crab ravioli), but had a fab experience and our friends loved it x

Fantastic food and great ambiance but let down by poor service.. hope they can improve on this. Long wait from seated to drinks order and food order. Drinks finally arrived after starter .. had to chase. Brought ice fir wine bucket to the table in a large plastic bucket! Dessert order was incorrect, Gave feedback to manager and reaction was rather non interested and slightly arrogant to be honest . Spoilt an exceptional food experience. Need to get waiting staff better organised and responsible for an allocated section in my opinion.

My Dad and husband had steak and they both said it was absolutely delicious. They really enjoyed the flavour. My Mums fish was very tasty, she went for the cod. Unfortunately by carbonara was a little dry which was a shame, but apart from that everything was lively. The service was efficient and friendly and the atmosphere was great. Many thanks
