Executive Chef & Proprietor Bret Thompson, with a rich culinary background spanning prestigious establishments in the U.S. and abroad, brings his expertise to Pez Coastal Kitchen. Joined by his wife Lucy Thompson-Ramirez, they have left an indelible mark on the Los Angeles dining scene with their previous ventures, including the beloved Pez Cantina and LA Burrito Co. in Montebello, but at Pez Coastal Kitchen,Chef Bret’s focus shifts to innovative techniques such as curing, smoking, and specialized dry-aging of seafood which will be a distinctive feature.

    Pez Coastal Kitchen is a fantastic spot for fresh, flavorful seafood in Pasadena. The dishes are beautifully presented and packed with vibrant, coastal-inspired flavors—the grilled branzino and ceviche were standouts. The service was attentive and friendly, with staff making great recommendations and ensuring a smooth dining experience. With its inviting ambiance and excellent food, this restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers!

    I like the Caesar salad at Pez so when I saw they offered their Caesar salad with Fried Oysters, another favorite, for brunch I was excited to order. Big Disappointment. The oysters appeared to have been chopped up covered with batter. I could not tell the difference between the oysters and the croutons. My guess is maybe 1/2 to 1 full oyster was scattered along the edge of the salad. I am not ruling out Pez restaurant and will try them again for dinner. Will not try brunch there again. I gave 4 stars for service because it took awhile to get our cocktails and felt like they did not have enough staff.

    When we checked in, the host didn’t notice the note we left in the “Additional Note” section on OpenTable, mentioning that this dinner was a birthday celebration. It was meant to be a subtle touch, but I ended up having to mention it out loud twice after we were seated. Thankfully, our waitstaff surprised us at the end of the meal with a brownie and a candle, which was a thoughtful gesture. I do wish our server had been a bit more engaging with the guests, but we understand he was likely busy. Despite a few small hiccups, the dinner went well overall. The food was delicious and the interior was beautiful and clean as I remembered.

    Great place. The owner and chef was very nice and really accommodating. The seafood tower is so worth it my son finished it singlehanded.

    I was a little underwhelmed by the food quality and selection on a Sunday lunch. The Foccacia bread was nice. Linguini with calms are average. Small portion for $34 Server was nice.

    Excellent Dining experience at Pez Coastal Kitchen! Greeted and seated promptly!! Our waitress assisted us with the menu. Specials and any questions about the menu. Beautiful decor in the restaurant. The food was Delicious! Food was served in a timely manner. Dined comfortably! We were here for lunch. We will be back to Pez Coastal Restaurant for dinner. Looking forward to another great dining experience!
