Petunia, one of many boutique BYOB eateries in the Kara Restaurant Group, is located in historic Cape May Court House: a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the islands, just a fifteen minute drive from Stone Harbor, and the home to our beautiful county park and zoo.

With a focus on house-made fresh pasta and comfort food, Executive Chef Nick Price has prepared a rustic, Italian inspired dinner menu. And for weekend brunch, a curated selection of unique breakfast and lunch dishes.

We couldn’t get into any restaurants last minute in Stone Harbor so selected Petunia ( we luckily got a reservation). What a pleasant surprise. Wonderful night out and meal was terrific! Loved the ambience and food was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Quaint place with delicious food. The carpaccio was delicious, and something that we rarely see in this area which made it an extra special treat! The gnocchi Gorgonzola was so tasty and flavorful.

Petunia is a beautiful space. We were there for brunch and it was excellent. This is not the big stack of pancakes kind of brunch place - no shame, I love that too, but it is not this place. Petunia is a bit more upscale and a great place to go for a quiet and wonderful grown up brunch. The staff was very kind and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. I am going to make it a point to go back for dinner at my next opportunity.

This was our first time visiting Petunia. We've always been impressed with its sister restaurants, so we figured we'd give it a try during our weeklong stay in Cape May. Upfront, I was impressed because it was one of the few restaurants that actually paid attention to my reservation notes. They had kindly printed a separate dairy-free menu for my husband. We started with the toasted ravioli. It was delicious. My picky 12-year-old declared the two very large ravioli the best pasta she's ever had. We ordered the large bread platter as well, which was way more than enough for our family of 4. For entrees, my husband got a beef tenderloin with extra oyster mushrooms. All amazing and perfectly cooked. My kids raved about their spaghetti and meatballs. I really liked my mushroom papparadelli. If anything, a touch more seasoning would be welcome. We were all too full for dessert. Service was very friendly, and we were greeted immediately upon entering. If any suggestion here can be made, I'd say maybe more attentiveness to things like refilling drinks and following up with any other needs. We did need to approach the servers for requests, and I noticed another diner had to do that, too. But all in all, I'd definitely make the drive from Cape May. Italian food in the area has always been a little lackluster. The food at Petunia was outstanding.

One thing you need to note about going to petunias is that it is basically a pasta restaurant. There are a couple other things on the menu but it is dominated by pasta dishes. The pasta dishes are very expensive. For example, I had pasta with mushrooms on it and the entrée was $36. I believe the pastas are from a box and not homemade. The appetizers however were very good. The shrimp carbonaro had huge very nice shrimp on it. However, the sauce was very bland. There was cod on the menu however you would think that a restaurant near the ocean would have some local catch of the day to be served rather than an Icelandic cod. sorry for the negative review but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed in this restaurant.
