Nestled in the heart of downtown Western Springs, Petite Vie offers a menu curated with classic French dishes infused with Chef Paul Virant's signature flair. Spending time researching in France for inspiration, Virant has crafted every dish with meticulous attention to detail and a reverence for tradition.

Seating 65 guests, Petite Vie’s intimate space exudes the warmth and comfort of a traditional French brasserie, while seamlessly blending modern design elements. A collaboration between Virant, his wife Jennifer and long-time friend and designer Jody Tate, every detail at Petite Vie tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful curation.

Featuring French intricacy and layering, the space is a canvas of artistic expression, with artwork curated from both local talents and treasures acquired during the team's time in Paris. Framed prints, commissioned paintings, and a round antique mirror passed down through generations, adorn the walls, adding layers of intrigue.

Very disappointing. We loved the old Vie but sadly the new Vie can't compare. The appropriately named Petite Vie was too noisy, too petite, with two top tables squished together making little room for wait staff to serve and clear. My husband was seated on the banquet against the wall and I was across on the busy aisle making staff have to reach across or over me to pour water, serve and clear our food. The noise level was deafening. Our onion soup was over salted. The steak frites was over seasoned, tough and gristly and the cod en papillot was way-over salted. The pate maison was good. The service was excellent and the wine list very good. Because our entree was delayed we were served a complimentary side salad, which was a nice touch. We will not be returning.

French cuisine at its finest. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Vie last year and this year at the new location. Wonderful selection of hors d’oeuvres. The trout and cod were delicious. Creative dessert selections. Service was great. We’ll be back for brunch! Thank you!

I loved Vie, one of the best in Chicago! I made 3 reservation at Petite Vie, SO looking forward to it, and I really wanted to be good like a Biden voter, until I had to face the truth. The service was great, staff was out standing ! The ambience was very welcoming. The food however was disappointing. The escargot was too salty, Confit was dry, Frits was soggy and thick, my wife’s French onion soup was lacking in onions and the broth was burnt, the soufflé was under cooked. Overall it was subpar. I really wanted to like it, I really did and it just didn’t pulled through. I will try it again at at the end of summer -and hope they are better

We ate brunch on a Saturday, only the second weekend that brunch was being served, and the service was perfect. We loved every dish and there were so many good ones on the brunch menu. The crepes were the best we have ever had, better than ones we had in Normandy, France! The savory buckwheat crepe was served with ham, bacon and wild mushrooms and a sunnyside up egg on top and was very tasty and filling. The sweet crepe with lemon curd, strawberries and whipped creme was the perfect dessert. There are also other pastries on the menu for dessert, such as Kouign-amann. The ingredients were all fresh and perfectly cooked. Watercress, our favorite green, was served with every savory dish and tasted crips and fresh, like it had just been picked from the farm. We also tried the crab salad and soft-boiled egg appetizer. The egg was soft, but not too runny, so it was easy to eat. The crab salad was delicious, though a bit salty. The house-made garlic sausage was the best breakfast sausage we have every had. We also tried the French toast that had soaked overnight in creme brulee, served with fresh berries and whipped cream. The flavors were "berry" good! We also enjoyed the delicious iced decaf coffee drink, available with milk of your choice and several flavors to chose from. The hazelnut one was delicious, like an adult milkshake, perfect for brunch. For the quality of food, the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was more relaxed and quiter than when we dined there for dinner, though that may change as more people find out about this amazing brunch and fill every seat in the brasserie.

We sat in the area at the back of the restaurant, which was much quieter than the front, which was perfect for date night. The food was excellent. Cocktails were inventive, well-balanced and delicious. Service was great. I am so fortunate to have had Vie, and now Petite Vie, right in my backyard. Also, I found the pricing to be realistic. We double-checked the bill thinking they’d left something off accidentally. Perhaps we are too used to being over-charged elsewhere!

Excellent evening at the new Petite Vie! Cocktail selection and wine list are both terrific - the creative mixology staff followed over to the new spot. Excellent service, with many of the members of the Vie wait staff following over to the new restaurant. And the food - the pork chasseur is to die for. We will be back
