A culinary celebration of California's coastal offerings, and a heartfelt tribute to the late Peter Orr. Founded by Sarah Orr and her mother Mary Ann Orr of Sunset Hospitality Group, Pete's Fish House embodies a deep-rooted passion for community and culinary excellence.

Named in honor of Sarah's father and mentor, this restaurant is more than just a dining experience—it's a reflection of cherished memories and Peter’s larger than life legacy. Sarah explains, "I have been looking for a way to honor him, and this feels like the right way to do that."

At Pete's Fish House, expect a menu that is inspired by the coastal waters and the bountiful local agriculture that Peter was deeply committed to, ensuring a true representation of our region's culinary heritage.

    This was my second visit. This time with an out of town guest, and Pete’s did not disappoint. Interesting preparation of scallops, perfect oysters, rich broth on the mussels! Such a welcome high end (but not fussy) dining experience on the esplanade.

    Well prepared menu items, more limited menu, but this place is 2 weeks old, so understandable. The service and hospitality were outstanding. Beautiful ocean view! I’ll be back!

    My wife and I decided to check out the new restaurant in Capitola when only opened a few weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised at the experience given the short time it had been open. We had the scallop appetizer that was excellent which we shared. Then we shared the heirloom tomatoe salad which also excellent. My wife had the mussels which she enjoyed and I had the seabass which was awesome.

    Delicious food, great service and memorable location! Seafood was very fresh. Creative flavors. We started off with Hog Island Oysters which I love. Definitely will dine there again soon!

    What a great addition to the village and thank you for being open Monday night I’ll be in a lot you carry my favorite champagne!! Billecart salmon rose !! Classy look with a great view. our server Paris was great. We were the last table there and she didn’t rush us out! Let us enjoy the champagne. Hope to see some more dessert options down the road. Will be back to try caviar service and the scallops. Wish the seats were a little taller outside to get an even better view. Definitely will recommend.

    We’ve been waiting for Pete’s to open, and we were not disappointed. What a delightful sunset dinner we had on their balcony overlooking Capitola lagoon and the ocean front. They’ve meticulously considered every aspect of a wonderful dining experience…the ambience, service, and food were all outstanding. We were astonished to learn it was only their 4th night since opening! The menu is not extensive yet, but nearly everything we ordered prepared to perfection. Our server was professional, attentive and so well trained…the wine service was everything one hopes for…chilled rosé in a wine bucket, gleaming stemware, and ideal pours to the bend in the bowl. Our server even held a folded cloth under the bottle top as he poured. We ordered things we’ve had many times before in many restaurants, but each was uniquely prepared in ways we’d never had before. The Ceasar Salad arrived on a platter with the romaine resting on swirls of tangy dressing. It seemed like each leaf was hand chosen and arranged, and topped with white anchovies that had a citrus bite rather than the too-salty taste of most anchovies. The shrimp cocktail was like no other we’ve ever had…the server explained that the jumbo shrimp were “U8s”, which meant each one was about 2+ ounces…absolutely huge. And the cocktail sauce was superb with just the right amount of horseradish to bring out the full flavor of the shrimp without masking it. Our one note for the chef was that the focaccia needs tweaking…it was more like a serving of bread and herbed butter, not warm as described on the menu, and not resembling true focaccia. The texture should be more compact and chewy with a glaze of olive oil and a rub of ground rosemary and sea salt. But then our entrées were served and we were back to sighing in contentment. Sea bass like no other we’ve ever had…so tender yet topped with a crispy skin and surrounded by heavenly chanterelles. The house made pasta with clams was so perfectly al dente with a divine sauce. Ah!!

    We had the trout and it was very good. The fish was a decent amount, but the rest of the meal (polenta, sunchokes) were pretty skimpy. In addition, we ordered Port at the end of the meal and it couldn't have been more than 1 - 1/2 oz. It seems the average in restaurants is 2 1/2 - 3 ozs. It wouldn't hurt to have a little bigger pour of wine too. I'll try the restaurant again in a few months when they get settled since it is a new restaurant in town. The word in our town is that the owner cares a lot about the food and her customers. Servers were wonderful and everyone was friendly. Although it is on a busy street and we are very sensitive to noise, it was not noisy. Nice patio.
