The saltwater oysters were fresh, and the fried creole oysters were an interesting take on them. I heard good things about the calamari but it was frankly okay - I've had similar / better at Italian restaurants so it was nothing special. The wood fire grilled octopus was my favorite by far - one of the best I have had in Austin - though a reminder that we are nowhere near the ocean so any fresh seafood is a wonderful experience. The service was excellent - the waiter was pleasant, friendly, and attentive to where my water glass rarely made it to the halfway point before he was filled it up again. The food was quick despite being prime time for dinner on a Wednesday evening, and overall it was a nice atmosphere. Outside books up quickly, but on a good evening it is the most desirable. Inside, you are close to other tables so their conversation may bleed into yours depending on how loud your neighbors talk. As for price, we ordered half a dozen regular oysters, half a dozen creole oysters, grilled octopus, the calamari, and a glass of red wine for a total of $116 and change (post tax, pre-tip). It's a little pricey, but the location, atmosphere (especially outside in nice weather), and fresh seafood in a landlocked city make this worth trying. Special note: I very much appreciated the significant staff levels as the service was attentive, cleanup was prompt, and the food came out quickly.

We had reservations at 6:45 for my sons girlfriends birthday. We arrived around 6:40 We ordered appetizers (oyster) & drinks (ice tea) fairly quickly and our dinner pretty soon after ordering the apps. It took FOREVER to receive either one. We didn’t have our entrees on the table until 8:15-8:20 Our server walked by us numerous times & made sure not to make any eye contact with us or stop by to check on us. He was well aware we had not received anything we ordered. We were seated near the kitchen- we were watching tons of food go out - there were tables that came in after us & left WAY before we did. My sons girlfriends never received a bday dessert (which we were ready to leave by that point anyhow) but it was pretty crappy of the server to not even offer it to her after us waiting so long for our food. There was not even a discount offered. Horrible service. Very disappointed

Whenever we fly into Austin- every other month- Perla’s is our first stop. Always excellent food and kind, knowledgeable staff. Today we had 2 high chairs and the waiter was extremely helpful, brought out the kids food right away and never rolled his eyes at the mess we left. And the food is unmatched.

Honestly the best restaurant experience my son and I may have had ever had. Perla’s is a must stop for anyone visiting Austin!! 5+ stars

It was my birthday, and Matthew and Nico made our celebration dinner so awesome! Everything was wonderful from the moment we entered until we exited. It’s been too long since we visited Perla’s last.
