Located in the West Loop of Downtown Chicago, PERILLA fare offers Korean American cuisine centered around a communal dining experience inspired by classic Korean flavors and traditional ingredients. With an emphasis and focus on quality and premium selection of meats for Korean BBQ, Chef Andrew Lim and the team proudly works with local farms and quality importers to provide our guests with an adventurous culinary experience. We offer an expansive beverage list which includes handcrafted cocktails, craft beers, a curated wine list, and hand selected imported sojus and makgeolli. Our menu accommodates all dietary restrictions with a focus on vegetarian options including locally sourced mushrooms. Food was amazing but the service was not. Our waiter barely came to check on us. We were a party of six that had someone end up being sick and instead of seating us comfortably at a six person table we had to cram into a four person booth. It was cramped. The person crammed in the corner had to straddle the wall a lot and couldn’t reach most of the food. Our waiter forgot to bring us items we asked for and never asked us if we wanted a second round of drinks. It felt also like they were trying to rush us in and out of the place to get another group at the table while there were empty tables open. We might return for the food but the service frankly sucked.

As someone who regularly eats Korean BBQ, there was definitely some sticker shock. The courses weren't authentically Korean, and would be best described as fusion geared toward non-asian diners. There was a total lack of standard side dishes except the most basic kimchi and a pickle. Apparently, there was a 2 hour time limit which seemed odd given it is not all you can eat. Thank goodness they didn't adhere to the time limits, as service was painfully slow and disorganized. The waiters collectively repeatedly forgot our requests, and we had to request the same things over three and four times each which led to incorrect ordering (our one order of pork belly turned into 4 orders). For a meal that averaged over $150 / person, I certainly expected better service. The alcohol was also VERY overpriced.

Prefacing by saying my friends went at 8:30pm on a Thurs, so it wasn't the busiest, nor did it need to be. The cocktails were excellent, the shared plates were well portioned and plentiful, and grill options were excellent cuts and quality. Standout item was the chobop w/ a5 wagyu, so delicious. Hokkaido scallops were just every but as good as advertised, and the dwenjang cured pork belly was fantastic. Service was excellent, and given how late it was, with the restaurant emptying out, the conversation with our server was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again!

Authentic Korean food coupled with American styles dishes. Friendly staffs who taking care of me having my meal alone.

Most delicious food and had an amazing server. A little on the pricey side but definitely worth the experience!

Food was fine, but brought out in a strange order. Service was awful. After putting in our order we saw our server once? Will not be going back.

I was a good experience, service was very friendly but it was slow. Our banchan didn't get replenished, so it kinda ruined the experience since we didn't have the accompanying sides to compliment the meats. Other than that the staff was so nice and friendly

This , unfortunately was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I was thankful that this restaurant was able to accommodate a table for 12 artists coming from an event. I had a reservation for less but more people showed. We were actually going to another restaurant when this place said they could seat us , well that’s where it all went wrong . This place has a full bar, yet we’re ill equipped to making a vodka martini , and a margarita in a timely fashion. 20 min. And several times asking where are two drinks were . It’s just got worse from there. No one numbered the orders, so random items were brought out and placed wherever the server felt they should go, so people didn’t know whose food belonged to who. Meat items given to vegans. The manager caught an attitude with me when I called out how messy the service was. I would not recommend this place. Hopefully the other location , where I thought I was making the reservation does better

Thank you for your feedback. While we appreciate hosting your group, I’d like to clarify key points. Your reservation was at 7:30, you expanded from three to 12 guests without prior notice, & your full party did not arrive until 8:40. Despite this, we were happy to accommodate. We explained our communal dining style, where dishes are shared and served as ready, but your group did not accept this & became upset when we couldn't cater to individual preferences. This dining style ensures smooth service for all. We apologize for any delays in drink service. However, respect is essential. Your group was repeatedly rude to our team and disrupted other guests by standing around the table and playing music from a phone. Respect & mindfulness is needed to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

Everything was amazing. The only thing that was tricky was remembering how long to cook each item after our food was delivered. Our server was always checking in though to see if we needed a helping hand and even took over some of the cooking. She also did a great job recommending items to order since it was our first time there.
