We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

We are on holiday in the area and looked on line for a place to eat near where we were staying. Chose The Pen Mill Hotel as it had great reviews. It lived up to the reviews! Lovely friendly staff; clean and welcoming setting. Good choice of food - particularly gluten free! I had a wonderfully delicious vegan and gluten free tart. The pastry melted in my mouth. So unusual to have a tart that’s gluten free - and tasty! My husband had a lovely filo pastry pie (chef’s special) and he loved it. The food was presented well too. There was an amazing choice of gluten free desserts!! I was too full to have one but took one ‘to go’ - ate it later (chocolate gf tart) it was really delicious. We wished we lived closer as this place would become a favourite. We are planning on eating there again before we venture home. If you’re gluten free - or not - this is definitely the place to eat! Highly recommended. Thank you Pen Mill - what a lovely place.

Absolutely beautiful food, staff amazing, parking right outside as I'm disabled was a bonus, 5* service from start to finish

The food was ok for the mid week carvery but most definitely not value for money. £16.00 per person for a mid week carvery!! I feel that I have been fleeced/robbed and certainly won’t be returning. Don’t eat here if you want a value for money carvery. I am so annoyed that I am telling everyone.

Great food, fab to see healthy choices as well. The slim burger was absolutely stunning and no compromise on taste!

Food was amazing as usual, staff were polite. The drinks were expensive, two ciders for almost £13 I feel is slightly too much. The food was reasonable price an to good quality. Unfortunately we were told our table needed to be freed up, we were just finishing our puddings. But my daughter was clearly still eating her main meal, with ice cream. That was slightly frustrating as we felt we had to rush her, when she was eating really well but also, I understand why, but we were a party of 5 having mains, puddings, drinks, it didn't feel enough time to have our propper meal. Dissapointing.

We eat here often for the Sunday carvery. We’ve been to many carveries and this is one of the best. The food is lovely, the staff are well trained, friendly and very helpful. It is always busy on Sundays but there are enough staff to keep things running smoothly. I highly recommend 8t.
