Fifty eight years ago, Elaine and Pierre Boissiere established their eponymous restaurant at its current location, years before Carmel Plaza shopping center was built around it. They sought to offer the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea a relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral part of the dining experience. The ambience sets the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care for detail and pastries baked daily on premises. It is a testament to their far sightedness that Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant continues to fulfill their vision to this day.

6 of us went last night and it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dinners a lot. With 6 of us - we were still able to hear each other and talk to each other - which is rare in restaurants these days. The restaurant is small and very cozy. We will be going back soon.

One of our favorite eateries in Carmel. The food is always delicious and well presented. We had made reservations way in advance but unfortunately we go seated in a little hallway and didn't get to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant.

This is our very favorite Resteraunt in Carmel. The owner and staff are kind and generous. The food is beyond compare. We travel from Orange County to Carmel at least twice a year. Our favorite place ( besides the beautiful hikes on Scenic Drive and Point Lobos) is this authentic French Resteraunt. We are grateful 💕💕

Great value for solid European classics. Welcoming and competent service in a super comfortable and pleasant setting. Very good deal for a nice meal in Carmel.

We always enjoy coming here. The restaurant is cozy and home-like. The staff is attentive and fun. The food is uniformly very good and the price-value relationship is also very good.

Always reliable, the best french onion soup We went to over 8 restaurants on the peninsula to find the best onion soup and this is it. All the main courses are done with a fine hand and generous servings. Wine list is very reasonable and you must leave room for dessert. One walks by the dessert display upon entrance, opulent describes it.

This restaurant is always delicious! It’s a meal like going to your French or Italian grandmas table. Homey, comfortable, welcoming, and dependably delicious! We have taken all kinds of people there from all different backgrounds and taste. Not one has had a critical thing to say! The Frisch onion soup is among the best ever! We were celebrating our anniversary last night and they actually cared and without telling them, brought us a special dessert and wished us happy anniversary. That’s rare these days! Charming and delightful!

We started with french onion soup, excellent and the harvest salad very refreshing, really enjoyed the Roque for dressing which was a touch lighter than usual. We each (3 people) ordered the evenings specials. My veal Osso Buco was exceptional! Ordering desserts to go is a must, also exceptional. Service was on point with the right amount of table touches, and everyone was gracious, lovely ambience. I felt like I was in a cozy French village LOVED IT

We enjoyed a very festive Christmas Eve dinner. Each course was delicious. The owners are so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend dining here.
