From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

What a lovely night we had! Our server was so friendly and helpful, the food was, once again, Amazing and the atmosphere was quietly warm and pleasant. Another great meal at Pates

I’m a Chatham baby and have been going to Pate’s since I was a child with my family. My husband and I eloped to Chatham Bars a year ago and had our wedding dinner with friends after so it was a no brainer that this is where we would celebrate the final night of our week long Cape celebration. We were greeted by a Prosecco toast which was a such lovely way to begin our celebration. I started with my favorite clam chowder (a cape cod baby who doesn’t eat seafood but this is always a must have) and finished with the filet with whipped potatoes, asparagus and a veal reduction. Cooked perfectly and delicious. The chef was able to accommodate my husbands need for a heart healthy diet as well. They won me over being able to accommodate my big need - my favorite Paper Plane cocktail. We couldn’t resist dessert and went for the chocolate cake with raspberry - I have no idea what the magic crunch powder was on the side, but I loved every second of it! Thank you Pates for yet another fabulous celebration!

First time at Pate’s for a family birthday celebration. Service and food was excellent! Caesar salad and chicken dumplings were so delicious. We were a party of six and ordered the filet, fish special and the seafood pasta. All were superb. Ended the meal with coconut ice cream - SO yummy! We will be back for sure!

A wonderful experience. Great table. Amy was our waitress...she is fabulous. Food, as always was outstanding. Management made every effort to accommodate our requests. We were a table of 6. It was a perfect evening!

We were very pleased with our dining experience at Pate’s on a September Friday evening at 5:30 P.M. there were three of us. I had made reservations several days earlier. We were initially led to a table in the dining area near the bar section; however, for to the noise level, we requested a table in a front dining area, and they accommodated our request. Our server, Ellen, arrived promptly and introduced herself. She was extraordinary. Friendly, welcoming, and perfectly attuned to our needs. Cocktails were excellent. Salads were perfectly as described. I requested their creamy cilantro dressing and it was very good. Artichoke hearts and lemongrass chicken dumplings were outstanding. Our friend’s crab cakes looked delicious and she confirmed that they were. We also ordered a side of whipped buttery potatoes and they were, indeed, really really good, and one side would easily serve four people. We didn’t save room for dessert, but on a return visit, I’ll sure do so. Bravo to the “new” Pate’s. We adored the original Pate’s, and while this is a completely different restaurant now (menu and atmosphere) we are pleased to discover that it is excellent!

Our server Quinn was the BEST! In spite of an unexpected rush with Walk In’s and the need for an additional server Quinn and her team made us feel welcome and made our dining experience very enjoyable. The food was delicious. Next time we visit we will be sure to ask for a table in the bar area. We preferred the energy there versus the dining room. We loved the bar area so much we decided to stay and have a night cap. Ed our bartender was a delight and made a delicious chocolate martini. We’ll be back.
