We had a fabulous anniversary dinner where the table was covered with petals on arrival and the table itself was beautifully positioned in the corner. Our waiter was superb, warm, friendly and efficient. We fed this back after our meal. We had the foragers pie and the fish pie. Both delicious. The veg tempura for starters was also gorgeous with moreish sweet chili sauce. Cheesecake for dessert was also Devine. There was a loud family with noisy children in the restaurant that disturbed the other diners, which was frustrating but as parents, we’ve all been there at some point I suppose. We’d certainly recommend dining there though. Great menu, new chef Lee Clarke who trained under Marco Pierre White I understand updated a lot of the food on offer and the general set-up.

The quality was poor and food very overcooked. Service was too fast felt rushed, disappointing considering it vas never like this a year ago but clearly something has changed and needs to be changed again!

Excellence is the watchword from entry to the restaurant (which is through a gorgeous and welcoming hotel bar for the University Arms hotel) to our leaving. Staff are courteous, warm, and efficient. The signature pies (stake and ale at our table) are outstanding with a glass to red to accompany. The setting is also a fun experience- well- designed and comfortable and includes a view of famous Parker’s Piece.

Beautiful setting but the service was terrible, and the staff was poorly briefed on a change to the service.

A lovely setting for a family occasion. Food good. Set lunch very good value. Pleasant staff. Next time I’ll ask to sit near the window. No pint glasses!

Went for a Sunday dinner and the roast was possibly the best roast dinner I have ever had….the gravy was absolutely delicious I could have drank a pint!! The roast potatoes also phenomenal….i will be back!!

The menu is quite limited. Overpriced for what it is. The dining room itself is full of character and overlooks Parker’s Piece, perfect for a summer’s evening.
